Is the '05 QC a "50-state" vehicle?

Hey folks, I can't tell by looking at the emissions certification sticker on my '05 QC if the vehicle is "50-state" certified for registration in California. The truck originally came from Texas, and it's now at my home in Missouri.

I lived in CA for over a dozen years, and know all too well the laws/rules for bringing an out-of-state vehicle with less than 7,500 miles on it unless the emissions certification sticker says "Including California".

The sticker on my '05 QC basically says "Light duty vehicle" unless in California where it would be considered "Medium duty". It doesn't contain the "except California" or "including California" the DMV inspector will look for.

So basically, does anyone know definitely whether or not the '05 QC is indeed 50-state certified, or is it considered a 49-state vehicle unless it were bought in (or optioned for) California?

Thanks in advance!

I don't see anything on my window sticker to indicate that mine is a "California car". Looks to me like they may be 50 state models. But I didn't go out and check the truck itself.

I snapped a picture of the sticker on my '05 - I'm very curious to know if the ones delivered to CA originally say the exact same thing. Then it's just proving that to the CA authorities. I called the Technical Compliance Unit, and they said "Hmmm, we don't really know. You will have to bring it here and see what the local DMV inspector says."

Yeah right, I'm going to bring the truck 2,000 miles to see some random guy that might be pissed off at his wife or something that particular day :) Anyway, have a look >>

I live in the heart of California and bought mine in S Carolina.I didnt have one problem registering it here. The sticker is 50 state legal. All I had to do was get it weighed and smogged.

That's good to hear guys - Thank you!!! I wouldn't think you would need a smog check since the vehicle is less than 4 years old, but I can barely keep up with all the rule changes in CA.

I called Dodge today and finally managed to get through to a person that verified this particular VIN was ordered/built with the 50-state option, so now I'm just waiting on some proof of that which they've said they will e-mail.

<Crossing my fingers>

All gen 3 viper trucks and cars which are produced are 50 state. Not sure about the older ones, but all the gen 3's are...

Red, I'm quickly coming to that conclusion. The trick is proving that to some random DMV inspector that tends NOT to believe the word of those trying to register out-of-state vehicles.

They live and die by the exact wording on that emissions/certification tag, unless you can prove it some other way. Oddly enough, if the truck had 7,500 miles or more it stops being an issue. Leave it to CA!

I'm not sure when it started...But I think its been a few yrs now that all cars and trucks are 50 state approved....

It saved the states a bunch on DMV BS....

Maybe it's a 'no go' after all taking this truck to California. I got an e-mail from DC this evening on the subject. It reads >>

Your vehicle was built from the factory with 50 State Emissions, but not

That being said: what's the difference between the CA SRTs and the 48...47....46... state models.

Mine is stickered to be a LEV1 which makes me sure that it's CA ready. Check the 'emissions' sticker on your passenger side battery tray. All of the information is there. I've attached the pic of mine here.:D

Is there more than one emissions configuration for the SRT-10?:dontknow:

Dude your truck will pass at the Ca. DMV. Lots of people have brought them here. All it has to say is "California" on it. I brought in a new out of state F150 in '04. It was no problem.

Hopefully you got rid of the F150. ............:D j/k

Yeah, no problem...I had 4 miles on the odo when it got registered w/ the dmv here is Cali. They looked at the sticker, smog cert, and on my way it went...

That DC email sounds like a legal CYA from a low-level DC employee to me. I'm sure the truck is compliant given the reading of the stickers.

05 SRT10 CA emissions question

Hey hope this finds the right people. I just bought my truck from Ohio. Haven't seen the emissions sticker. I'm going to get a pic of it ASAP. Anyone else ran into this? i.e. have you bought an SRT out of Cali and brought it in with less than 7500 miles??? Or anyone have a way to get a hold of Midwest Muscle?

All srt10 are 50 state compliant. Mine came from Ohio with 5000 on it. You will not have a problem.

I bought mine in Pennsylvania with 7223 on the speedo. I had it shipped to So Cal. Took it to get smoged and then took it to DMV. Guy looked at VIN, speedo and sticker. The same sticker that was posted here and $1500 later it was a California Truck. I had to get commercial plates but now have the personalized plates.

Go here all the info is there:

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/howto/htvr9.htm

It will not need to be put on scales:

Pickups with unladen weight of 8,000 lbs. or less are exempt from this requirement.

You can estimate your cost with a calculator they have. Just bring title, smog cert. Insurance in case they ask. I filled out all the forms to make it easy on the clerk. The process took 30 min. I made an appointment.
