Is the dealer screwing me??

Yes, the pan is about 550 bucks if I remember correctly.
The removal and replacement is not easy. Remove the engine or take out the cross frame member.

However, like the rest are saying. Should be covered under warranty.

We do you live for the tow??? Can't refer you without knowing where you are? I have a car trailer right now that I used a couple of days ago.

I do most of all my own service on my truck.... the only thing I will not do is the tranny service, which I take to a tranny shop and get it done for around $90.00 every 6k miles.

I have even gone as far as repairing my own A/C system, when I installed the supercharger I managed to damage 2 A/C lines, and they failed, so I happily replaced those on my own dime.

I even put my own stereo in, integrated with the factory NAV system, CAN BUS, etc..

However my A/C has failed once again.... this time I noticed its a facory line that I never touched and its rubbing against a sharp edge under the hood... and caused a leak.. so its going over to Avondale Dodge to have them look at that.

Everyone is right.. its amazing what you learn about your vehicles if you just take the time to look and see what can be done.

I'm so pissed right now. I'm just going to go up there and get this crap settled. I'm going to make them show me the pan and how they expect to get it corrected.

What was supposed to be a 5 hour repair is turning into a freakin disaster!
Stay calm. You will win.

I took my truck in to have the camshaft bolt recall taken care of yesterday. It was supposed to be done yesterday afternoon but they needed another part. So today the guy calls me and tells me they have a problem. When they removed the oil pan bolt it stripped the pan out. They said that whoever changed the oil last put it in too tight and ruined the pan. They are advising me to put a new pan on it for $1100, not to mention labor.
The last place to change the oil was another dodge dealership here in atlanta. I also have the powertrain plus warranty on it. How is this my problem? Should I be expected to pay for this? Should I be able to tell the service manager to get bent cuz its his baby now?

I'm so f-ing pissed.

Nope, it's not your fault....advise them that the last person to change the oil was a Dodge dealer.....they need to contact that dealer and figure out whom should foot the bill....if they deny your request, call chrysler and get a rep on the phone....if I remember things correctly from my fiasco, they had a specific person/group to handle the SRT complaints....although it took three weeks, quite a beating, several calls to the regional rep, calls to body shops, and even some searching for a lawyer, they finally did the right thing...the better business bureau and local attny general (???? not sure) are also routes to get even....

You are not in the wrong, just take your time, take notes, keep receipts, and make sure your voice is heard....loudly, but politely....do not give up....

I would go down there, have them show you the pan. THEN, give them the phone number of the other dealership, and they can battle it out without you. If that does not work, you can take it home, tap it and deal with it yourself; OR, call the regional rep...but do not leave until you get something is writing about you LEAVING with it damaged.

On another note, make sure the crankshaft is not damaged and they are just brushing it off.

Do your own oil changes :D

A little update...

Well I couldn't take it. I left work and went to the dealership to inspect it for myself. The bolt was infact stripped and they also discovered that the power steering hose was leaking.

He quoted me $1100 for the pan. We went round and round with me telling him that I have a warranty. he said that he couldn't find it. he finally did. The warranty company misspelled my name in the system.

Eitherway, they are going to do everything under warranty!! They will have a new pan in on Wednesday and they are going to fix the steering hose as well. I purchased the powertrain plus warranty which covers the drivetrain, a/c and steering components.:D :D :D

I almost didn't get it last week as it cost $1240. But I thought i might as well just in case. Thank God that I did!! The total bill with everything was going to be a around $3000 to get everything fixed. So the warranty has already paid for itself.

In the meantime, i have found an awesome dealer to go to with all my warranty stuff for the truck! Thanks to everyone for all the advise/consolation.

I'll have my truck back on wednesday and it should be pretty damn stout moving forward.

I just got the truck, I will be changing my own oil. (i always have)

:D :D

Thats why i ALWAYS go to the dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you would have been in a world of hurt if you had done it anywhere else.

Thanks all.

Like i said earlier, I think i've found a good guy to work with at my local dealer. I'm so relieved right now. I decided to grab an 8 pack of guiness on the way home and celebrate while watching the open.
