Is the "Scoop" Functional?

Stinks, I like the idea of removing the insert. First I must see how this looks. Second, I'm sorry for your puppy pee pee incident. If you didn't deserve it this time, I'm sure there are plenty of other times a good smack was in order!!:D

She blames me for what he does, but I get revenge, I blame him for what I do!!LOLOL

LOLOL man I tell ya , wasnt sure about puttin the extra guages there, but after I did I love it!

the ones on the pillar to me are actually hard to jsut "keep an eye on"

but with them there you can jsut naturally see em. Plus I dont run wipers so they are easier to see. I put the fuel pressure, a mech oil pressure for better readins as well as a mech coolant temp.

Looks good. Kinda old school looking. I bet it was 900 times easier out there too, you didn't have to come through the firewall with anything.

Like the "front on", No nonsense, business only look. This a potential mod for Mags.:) Scoops in my day didn't have grills. Did they? I need to ask an old guy.

Man I got a kick out of this thread! :D:rofl:

You guys are funny!!

I have to agree with Stank, blocking the vent shouldn't cause too much extra heat under the hood. I might though, put the hood liner back in to protect the paint.

Is it just me or is it really that much bigger than the OEM hood? Those gauges look nice and nostalgic.

thats the stock hood bro, and thanks on the guages:rock:

but yeah jsut the stock hood, my other is stil in the building , trying to find a painter that would do me good enough in the area, might have to end up sending it to hot rod mike.

but I removed the insert, and cut the tabs out then sanded the opening smoooooooooth:D

Yes, it's functional! But, you would have to be on a road coarse or oval track with a stopwatch and run the same exact line with and without the opening to see the difference. Meaning . . . We will never notice it. ;) If you are sitting still, heat is escaping through the opening. If you are moving, air is entering the opening and cooling the top of the intake (which has a LOT of surface area) and densifying the intake charge. Every 11°F is 1% denser.
BTW, Remember, the original design (RC) is a road race truck. Everything we have is set up for that. Which is also why everything we have is bad for a drag race truck. :(

Okay, I think we have established its functional. The extent is debatable. But it there for a reason. What did you have in mind Jimi?

I took of the honeycomb and plan on shaving down the nubs it bolted to. Leave a nive opening in the hood for my ROE...if it ever happens. Just glad Jimi is not buying a boat ;-P
