Very interesting reading.I have noticed a lot of the same things.While I like Gary and his products have all worked for me,he seems to be slipping in customer satisfaction lately.I haven't bought any of the "bling" items,just performance things (except the mirrors/wait....smaller,more aerodynamic....they ARE performance items !)so,I am satisfied.My sims were wired incorrectly and I made about six calls to Gary and he talked me through the whole fix.

I have to agree about him picking one business.I honestly don't think he could make a living from selling parts here,so he HAS to keep the bike shop.He just has to see that he can't do it alone.There have been as many failures from attempting too much as from doing too little.

I also have seen first hand one of his installs and talked with the owner,and I would not have his shop install anything for me.Again a result of attempting too much.

Mike,I welcome your comments and opinions.I hold the opinion that we should always be allowed to express our thoughts here,be they popular or not.

Well, since you mentioned the 1/16" fuel line, I'll chime in. Mike, that was my idea, because I experienced the same thing with the handle rattle. If you will remember, they came with small plastic inserts; which kept falling out. So in an effort to fix the problem, that's what I did, and relayed the info to Boomer, and it worked on my truck. But your right, $600+ on handles to have them rattle--not the best. However, I like to have things fixed quickly, and the noise was driving me up the wall, so I took matters into my own hands, and consequently, fixed the problem.

Now, as for vendor service and the forum.

1. I think honest (positive or negative) feedback should be the norm.

2. Although I have never come on and blasted Gary for anything (at least I can't recall), I have always been truthful of the products that I have recieved, or at least tried to word my critique so that people made the right choice. For example, I know that I have PM'ed a couple of guys about the fuel line/door handle issue. They asked how I liked the quality, and I told them. Mine were polished and were absolutely beautiful; those that have seen them can attest. But they did need a modification so that they were not so loud. In addition, mine came in with several dings. Gary said that they probably recieved the damage in shipping and that I would need to file a claim with UPS. Well this is probably true, given the fact that they were loosely packed and definitely hit each other during transit. I just handled the issue myself and took them to a local polisher to have them fixed. I know, I shouldn't have had to do that, but it was the quickest way to fix the problem. It would have been nice for Gary to send replacements, or at least to fix mine, but that never happened.

I also had an issue with the CalVue mirrors that I made Gary aware of. For those of you that have them, you will notice a small dimple on each mirror. I brought this to Gary's attention, and he told me that was from the injection molding process of the mirror itself. Ok, fine and dandy, but it looks like for the money that I spent, that production defect could have been filled in during the painting process. I'm almost positive that I conveyed that to members that asked.

The other thing that really pissed me off was the lowering kit. When I bought my kit, I was not told that there were two options--lowered and really lowered. So he sold me the regular lowered kit. Afterwards, I started seeing other trucks (Wazzup) that really appealed to me in regards to stance. I called Gary and found out that he was selling a different front spring to get the really lowered look. Keep in mind that I had only had these springs for 3 weeks, so I thought that it might be possible to trade the springs out for the lower springs. Gary said he couldn't do it, and I had to spend an additional $350 JUST on the front springs. So that's what I ended up doing. Now although I have never come out on the forum and publicly stated this, I have always conveyed the information to people that asked what drop I had. I made them aware of the spring differences in an effort to save them some cash.

Bottom line, it is our responsibility as consumers/forum members to be honest and truthful about vendors and their services. I'm happy with the mods that I have purchased for my truck, but to say they were obtained without frustration or adjustments would be misleading.
 
I have my own business. And I found out that .. business is business...
Its very hard to do business with friends. Its ok as long as things go smoothly which is rarely the case. Thats why I try to avoid doing business with friends at all costs. And if I absolutely have to it's gratis.
If people here are members and vendors they should stand behind what they sell and do and be prepared to accept the consequences.
If someone has a problem with something purchased from an inhouse vendor this information should made available to all. If for anything help the vendor possibly correct/ develop/refine and or change the applications for which these products were intended.

Now I can post some constructive critiscm on Gary. I went to the GTG and met him seemed
like great guy. He put together a great outing had I a great time and thats that.
I tried buying stuff from him but just didn't happen. He's very hard to get hold of He called me back several times but Im just not on the phone too much. I'm better at writing than talking. He's obviously understaffed and doesn't have internet ready purchasing setup. Which is how I buy most of my stuff on the internet with secure ordering. If he's associated with a forum that has thousands of members he needs to upgrade his buisness to a new level.
I decided not to buy from him not because he's a bad guy or anything, it's just that I'm used to getting things ASAP. When I want something I get it. I don't like to wait.

If He has another GTG I definitely will be the first on there! :rock:

I applaude you all,there's a lot of information here,without becoming nasty !!!And I can say that "I" appreciate it all !!!As a consumer,I myself have found that there are good and bad experiences no matter who the Vendors are,or what is being sold !! I myself Prefer to know that when I call to order something,I can have it NOW,but that's how I am !!! I can relate however to the Drop Kit situation. Since the install,I have had a noise (vibration)from take off,then again around 80 mph.After reading other threads on here,and trying it,I have found that shimming the carrier bearing has almost corrected the situation !!!I only added an 1/8in so far,but will add another 1/8in and I'm thinking I should be good to go !!!But none of this was explained in the directions,which I think should have been !!!:dontknow: There's my .02 cents,because as someones sig reads,THOSE THAT MATTER DON'T MIND,AND THOSE THAT MIND DON'T MATTER !!!(I love that saying)Nobody can change the PERSONAL EXPERIENCES one has,good or bad !!!
 
This isnt the first time i've seen complaints about Boomer ,and the first time everyone was quick to defend him,nice guy who just needed to get through some stuff,bla bla,when does compassion end and business become reality?.

You wouldnt let a total stranger screw u over ,so why on earth is it ok for someone u know todo it?
WHY DOES A IT TAKE A CALL FROM AN ADMINISTRATOR ON HERE? THE CUSTOMER CALLING WASNT IMPORTANT ENOUGH?

Poor quality ,poor customer service ,but have a gtg and no one cares.

i know everyone likes a feel good story and wants to hold hands but get a clue here,if this was anyother vendor they would be kicked off the forum,so why does Boomer get a pass?

I put Flowmaster 40 series mufflers on my truck last year....they were restricive as hell and killed power....cut them off and added Billy Boat....and the power was back....Ran Nitrous and the Billy Boat imploded....melted...fell apart...called Billy Boat and they said no racing....the muffler for $1300 is designed for factory power levels only...now is this useful information...as a member am I supposed to share this....does this trial and error information fit into the purpose of the forum....?....what if I bought the mufflers from Gary...am I supposed to say nothing....?

So to Gary's friends out there that contacted me to back off....one question...

back off what...?.the truth....?

Mike I agree with you 100%. The members should have feedback about the vendors and products sold, especially if they're sold through the forum. I would want to know if I'm not living up to par as a vendor or if my products are defective or not satisfactory. Like you had mentioned, the bumpsteer kit, I had purchased Gary's bumpsteer kit and it was machined improperly, I had to spend an extra 2 hours on the tie rods (take them back off) because the sleeves were not tapped all the way through, so when I installed them, my toe was out so far, both wheels were facing opposite directions at max adjustment. And, of coarse I didn't have a tap that size.
It made me have second thoughts about purchasing his products in the future. Not to mention I had to cancel the sway bar links because I had still not received them after 2 months on order. Gary is heck of a nice guy to talk with, seems to have a lot of knowledge, but I am hesitant.

If he does not do it...Then he loses respect in my eyes ! I personally Love Gary alot as a person. So that's my Dog in this fight........BTW I have noticed that since certain events he has only come on to show new products...Other then that for one reason or excuse he has not been here with us.......I have always supported him because He is my friend.....But I am also the same dude that hammered the dog piss outta Hennessey for screwing with Walt so fair is fair and if Boom has got it coming then, he's got it coming.....:D

As one other poster has said, the last time he came on here was to promote some new product. I also noticed that. Nothing wrong with that...just kind of rubs ya the wrong way.

Because Gary used to send things pretty fast/wasnt hard to get a hold of and was an integral part of the forum.:dontknow:

I've never been a proponenet of this kind of answer. It never works.

The only way to get someones attention at times is through their cash flow.

You all have a choice on what and where to buy. With that choice you get what you get

If it was a bad choice, will you make that choice again?

Well, again, that is your choice
 
I can understand some off your frustrations about a vendor... Perhaps Boomer is growning to fast , to many demands, to many work , his own victim off succes... believe me , i have it also...
I don't know Boomer but wait his answer... What i have experienced in my buziness is that you do a 100 jobs right and nobody is speaking off it , butt do 1 wrong and the hole country knows it... I see it in my mails : if it's concerning good jobs i'm the adressed one, if it's concerning claims about finishing details it's adressed to me AND in CC to all their collegas at their company.... sad thing.
There may be issues and this must be told, up to Boomer ....to react. And i hope he chime in soon.

And i don't shoot nor be mad but i see here a reply-post from a vendor , not Boomer , who i sent 2 weeks ago a question to buy something.... i did not get any answer so far .... :dontknow:

I posted this on May 28th 2007 regarding problems with X-Metal.

PS...add another customer here in Arizona that has been waiting for over a year now for the remainder of his order to be shipped. Paid in full and follow up conversations with said Boomer on 6/13/06, 9/7/06, 11/12/06, 1/26/07 and 2/5/07 still haven't produced any resolution. And the bumpsteer kit you were going to send me in January due to your poor service and follow up....don't worry about it. I purchased one from another vendor. Your customer service sucks.... Pretty sad that a customer can't get resolution much less ANY follow up communication leaving the customer to make ridiculous posts such as this.....

Why don't you just send me the stupid $320 and I can stop feeling like an idiot for doing business with you.


After my last contact with him in Feb he had the motorcycle accident and I didn't follow up giving him time to recover and then once back at work a little more time to get settled. Once he started posting and talking about new products and such I figured it was time for FU. I haven't been able to get him to contact me at all. Thus my post and obvious frustrations. In all my years of dealing with Vendors I've never had to 'resort' to this type of post before.
 
Crook, crook, crook, crook. I've called it since day one. He's a salesman, period. He posted in a thread that he'd buy my brake calipers, said he was sending the paypal right then. Never got it, when I brought it up and cited the thread where he said he was going to buy it, I was the bad guy. The sooner board members remove themselves from his butt, the sooner they'll see he has screwed over A LOT of members.
