Jack Stands

Yup, block the tires, parking brake, jack stands and test location and stability by lowering the truck onto the stand(s). Leave the jack under the truck and bearing some weight with most of it on the stands. Never work with your body under a touch point if you can.

Seen a few folks with missing fingers, toes by them not using a jack stand. Luckily I havent been to any funerals for it.

All you can do is hope that telling that story will save someone else in the future.

Yep, I tell that story to all my kids' friends. There was a tuner shop in using our dyno a few weeks back. When I came in, one of their employees was under the car with just the jack hooking up the O2 sensor. Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!
   That's not going to happen in my shop ever again!

The only rookie move was you running through the staging lights and then having to get pushed back all right in front of your girl.....next time bring an L if you are going to drive like that.....:D

good point...now let me take it one step further....Don't let E-benz help when working on your truck....:D

Shots fired... :fight: :nurse: :nurse:

Re-built my 72' Monte's suspension....long ago...
Been using "the stands" forever... Just "one of those feelings" with
"the brains" under the front suspension.... not going to trust the jack alone....specially if some "jack off" shows up and has a "moment"...and God forbid "pushes".:banghead:

Good post...while common practice for others....may not be for some....just may have saved a soul :saint: or two.:congrats:
:congrats:

Good suggestions all.
Remember SAFETY FIRST
If you think it can happen it will.

I had a jack fail while lifting my Impala,I had already place the stands under the frame and was jacking for more clearance when.....BAM!! the jack failed.
Car dropped about 2" onto the stands and bent the frame a bit where it hit.
Always use stands. Disconnect battery when under the hood too.
