I went to Jamaica last year and unless there are 2 different Jamaicas in the world, only portions of what I saw were nice, the rest was third world shit hole. Afghanistan actually kinda reminds me of the slums in Jamaica, just shittier weather over here compared to there.

There's a Jamaica in NY but we are talking about the same Jamaica. Where were you staying in Jamaica?

Cruise ship. From what I could tell, the resorts were all really nice and I've been told before that outside of the resort areas it's slums. We unboarded and went out to the country side for zip lines and the drive was about 30 minutes and it was slums everywhere.

It's not just Montego Bay, the whole 2 hour ride from Montego Bay to Negril is exactly the same. I think the country itself is beautiful but all the buildings are terrible, dogs all over the place, etc.

One of the very first pictures I took when we got to Jamaica. They typically stop somewhere on the ride from Montego Bay to Negril and I got one of these. I was hooked on it for 3 - 4 months after we got back.
