Finally got my truck dropped off at Performance By Joe's today. Met DAVET(BADVENM) there. My truck is getting a custom grind cam (big and lumpy), ported/polished heads, roller valve train, upgraded pushrods, ported intake, ported throttle body and VEC 2.

Made a baseline dyno run with a hot motor this morning after driving in there. My truck put down 467 hp and 515 trq. Mods are Belanger long tubes, Belanger high flow cats, JMB Justin CAI, DC Stage II PCM. Stock clutch and 4.56 rear end.

Hoping to hit 550 rwhp when he's done.

Good luck with the installs and looking forward to seeing the numbers Joe produces. ;)

We need pics and dynos ASAP!

I can't wait to get mine back from the cam install...:D The sucky thing is that there is nobody that I know of in my area to get it dynoed when I get it back:( I am hoping for about 510-515 rwhp. I wish I had the funds to do the heads like you are doing since they are off right now.. Instead I'll just write a check to uncle sam in a few days:mad:

Yes! Keep us in the loop. Your mods look interesting to me because I have a 2006 QC and would like to do some future mods but not enough to have to build a $5K auto transmission. Good Luck!

How is Dave's truck coming along?
Dave was at Joe's with me until around lunch time today. I had to go to work.:(

They did his baseline run and I think Dave was surprised. I'll let him explain on his "guess my dyno" thread.

They were working on Dave's truck when I left. It's in good hands. I am sure Joe will hook him up.

Giving in to the addiction are ya? LOL Sounds very exciting!!!! Did Joe give you a timeline for how long the install would take?

patrick
It all depends on the heads. He has someone else do the rough porting and then he finish ports/polishes them himself. The porting guy has been a little behind the curve lately, so I don't know for sure. I expect it to take about 2 weeks if the guy is on the ball and longer if not.

I know Joe wants to do it as soon as possible. Cause he can stack 2 Vipers in each bay normally but can't stack anything else with the truck in there. SO I am taking up 2 spots, which are at a premium in his shop.

Shop Standard! lol
Never can have too many lifts.

UPDATE

Motor is broken down now (finally). Joe will be taking some before/after pics of the head, intake runner and throttle body porting.

Not sure if it'll be back together in time for Boomers get together though. :(

In regards to porting and polishing of the heads and/or intake manifold, is there a limit to how much they should port before there is no more gain in HP? Not sure if there are any dyno graphs to support this. I am following your build closely, I would love having a strong n/a build on my truck as well. Did you consider increading displacement as well?

There is a limit as to when it becomes cost effective to port further. You can get a basic port job on the stock heads for about half of what it costs for a "full" port job. The full port job includes porting beyond the tolerances of the passages and "rewelding" and "re-grinding" the passages again. A lot more expensive, but higher gains.
The intake outside runners can be port matched for a reasonable cost and some gains. To do a "full" port job of the intake you have to cut it open and port all of the passage ways. Again, more performance gains but way more expensive.
I will have and post all the dyno graphs and I will post my cam specs once we see how it performs. My goal was to build a strong N/A motor but I wanted to keep the cost under what it would cost for a supercharger. Otherwise I would have just went that route. Cost prohibited me from stroking or from doing the "Full" porting on the heads and intake.

I hope to hit 550 rwhp, but have no idea until we strap it down. My custom cam was spec'd to provide optimum power and torque through out the power band without falling off prematurely.

VT....can we ask....how much $$$....???

Cam
Head work
Intake
Rocker gear
VC spacers
Labor
Tune

$6000 ish?????

I'm at around 5K-ish right now, but I haven't seen the final bill yet, lol. :D

I picked up the rockers, spacers, Vec II etc...on-line and on forums for cheap as I could find. :p
