Anybody see the beginning of John Adams on HBO last night? I watched the whole first episode and part of the second. I've already learned more about him then I did in all my US History classes in high school and college.

Seems like this is going to be an excellent mini series. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

Tried, fell asleep...

It should be rebroadcasted hopefully. Looking forward to seeing it.

Wil

I read about him over the weekend. As it turned out, I never knew his son was the 6th US president (John Quincy Adams).... Damn I sure didn't pay attention in school.

2nd President of the United States of America. He also talked Thomas Jefferson into authoring the Declaration of Independence. A Patriot, author, the lawyer who defended the 9 British soldiers that were involved in the Massacre that helped launch the Revolution. The man who enlisted the services of Colonel George Washington to lead the war....Brilliant political tactician and the first politician to try to emancipate the salves. John Adams was a great man and often over shadowed because of the bookend Presidents before and after he served. If not for Benjamin Franklin insisting that Slavery not be part of the DOI. We would be lauding John Adams as the man who freed the salves and not Abraham Lincoln....I have not seen the mini series but I do have it TIVO'd and will enjoy it tomorrow on my day off.....Go figure Bikerscum starting a history thread :D I better hurry out and get me a Lotto ticket :elefant: John Adams is our countries first to bring people together for a common cause....He was a uniter :D

I never knew that he defended the British soldiers, until last night. So far the show has been excellent, and they made note of all the things you brought up. Also showcases just how strong of a woman Abagail was. Thank God for people like those, it's the reason we have the country we do today.

I must say you surprised me starting this thread :D Not that I think you are dumb or anything like that..But you have never struck me as a history buff either :D I love history  His wife just like all great men was the pillar of his strength very educated and well spoken. She all had a hand in making the countries policies that still effect us today.

Hilary has done nothing to further anything other then her own misguided agenda. She set back female empowerment 25 years accepting her husbands inability to keep his pecker in his pants. What you see her doing now running for President is her payoff for sticking to her man. She is bad for women IMHO :burnout:

I love history, both American and World. There is so much to learn from it, and I am in constant awe of some of the people that have graced this planet before us.
