Should be a very interesting couple months with all the new motorcycles being launched...

With a detuned ZX10 engine, I am interested to see this one in person...

Kawasaki Announces All-New Z1000 For 2007
By Alex Edge

Kawasaki announced today that the Z1000 naked bike has been completely redesigned for 2007. Following the company's commitment to strive for class-leading performance in every category, the new Z1000 features a new, more powerful motor allied to a heavily upgraded chassis which appears to feature sportbike-quality components.

Kawasaki's press release gives little detail regarding the new 1000cc motor, but according to our sources, the powerplant is derived from that of Kawasaki's ZX-10R superbike. Whether this motor is based on the powerplant from the current ZX-10R or that of its predecessor, we're not sure. What we do know is that the motor has been 'retuned' for more low-end power and torque. Unfortunately, in this class 'retuned' is usually a euphemism for 'detuned' - we hope Kawasaki can change that by bettering the ZX10R's low-end performance with the Z1000.

I have sat on the ZX-10R, I found it really cramped. But, it serves the pupose of being freak'in fast, nimble and light.

The Z1000 will go after the more comfort crowd (couch rocket) but still want the power. No idea on the hp ratings, but it should easily beat out the FZ1 and definately the VFR800. Maybe Boomer has more info on the specs, but I haven't been able to find any yet on the web.

Z1000, I think is also geared towards the europeon market where the naked bikes are the rage.

I have the 05 z1000 and this bike is kick ass!!! I'm considering the new one.. This bike is comfortable for 2 people. Hauls ass, and handles great!! My back never hurts after riding and can ride all day long in comfort.

I agree, that's the way I feel about my FZ1. Both bikes are very closely matched.

I definately think the '07 Z1000 will top both of them. :turtle: Can't wait to see one in person. :vroam:

Curious Blake,

Your not interested in the GSX-R series?

I have been eyeing the ZX-14, but will wait for next year to get rid of the bugs. I pretty much do that with any new model of a product...

It all depends on the person, some like curves some not:D For my 40 year ol ass I need the curves, and actually me and booomer have been talking about racing again next year possibly on the new KTM?:D

Suzuki is revamping the 1000 next year so expect it to be on top, Kawi is supposed to do small changes, Yamaha may do the r1 more like the r6 so it will be a real contender, honda has nothing without spending mega dollars and ducti is pullin out of AMA superbike, moto Cyz ro something like that wants to join ama racing, moto gp is downgrading to 800cc be an interesting year next year.

Im waiting for the king of the hill 07 Gixxer 1k!
My 051k was destroyed when I was T-boned in March, and I've been waiting for the 07 for way too long. Can't freaking wait!

I had the ZXx10R when it first came out.....

It was thee most uncomfortable bike I've ever owned. It was just a poor fit for my frame. I'm long waisted.... I never road a bike that put my head out over the front tire before. Ungawdly bad riding position with yer head in front of yer knees.

It had great power but first gear could'a been a bit taller.

I like the ZZR12 fine now......very comfy and a buttload of power with some gear changes..........I like Kawis alot.

Im awfully fond of the sportbike look.....I just dont care for the look of the naked bikes or the crossovers....but my wrists, elbows, knees, and back love em.....im gonna have to compromise sometime....just not now.

I always like the Z1k, but the seat never agreed with me->it feels like it's sloped down towards the tank too much, just waiting to crush The Boys. The big motor w\ real handlebar combo still appeals to me...my first bike was an SV650, I still miss her sometimes. I think my next streetbike will be either a KTM SuperDuke, Triumph Speed Triple, or Aprilia Tuono. Might have to add the Kawi to the list if they fixed the seat.
