You can by-pass the transponder by mounting it in the column close to it's partner. I did it. I didn't like the factory alarms lack of functions and the 06 key is quite bulky so out it went. I now run a 5-star alarm with "unnamed" gizmos and have some nice "Fang" keys. With a tailgate lock I now have a safe truck and a functional tailgate lock/unlock button on the remote, I love it.
