Has anyone been in a car with the keyless push button starter? My dealer got in an SRT8 Chally 6spd...I went by there to look at it and the salesman showed me how the key works. He held the key just outside the window while I was sitting in the car. As soon as the key passed thru the window opening the dash lights up light a Xmas tree! Just pushed the button on the dash and it starts..

You can leave your keys in your pocket when you get in the car. Car wont start unless the keys are on the inside. He held them next to the window and nothing.....the button pops off so you can use the key if desired..

My truck has push button start but I have to put the key in and turn the ignition on first.....I wonder if this can be fitted to the truck...maybe even after market....:dontknow:

A lot of cars have those. Lauri's C6 Vette had the same thing. Just walk up to the car with the keys in your pocket the doors unlock, car starts all that...it is a cool option. I doubt if it would be easy/possible to retrofit into something else, but everything is possible I suppose with enough $$$...LOL!

But don't lose that key...

Probably cost $500 or more!
key cut and programed is around $200.00 w/ tax...
There are some aftermarket companies that offer it for our trucks, but they do not like to put them on b/c of the liability. If you have an automatic you are ok, they just frown on putting them on our RC's:dontknow:

You talking about remote start?:dontknow:

This is different, would be great for the my wife.

She keeps losing her keys.

With this she would never have to take the keys out of her damn purse!

Now I was just talking about replacing the factory key with remote start control on it, Im sure installing the remote start system will set you back at least 1k.:dontknow:

I have tried to get our vendors to come up with something like this for our trucks for about a year. I think it is RFID technology that they use for this. I always thought it was lame to have a push to start button but we still had to stick a key in and turn it. :(

I assume the vehicle has to be in neutral . . . I ALWAYS leave my truck in gear when parked . . .

And that is why not many people will install them. They have had standards run people over and I believe at least one person has been killed by being crushed in between 2 vehicles.:(

There is a Kit out that has a bypass to make sure the parking brake is on or it won't engage. So even if you leave it in gear it would stall out as soon as it fires up.

But If I were to start my ca on level ground with it in gear without ever touching the brake it doesn't go anywhere it just stalls out so I don't understand how someone could have died? :dontknow:

Nissan maxima's have the keyless start feature too, Not sure if they originated it but one of my co-workers has an 04 with that feature.

I knew this was coming. It happens when you get old and have kids. :( If I could I would have a RC. Oh well it is still great to own one of these trucks. AND it is an advantage in this case :D :D :D

I am not talking about a remote start...you sit in the seat and push a button...no key to insert....key just has to be inside the car...will not start unless the key is inside...like in your pocket or purse in Jimi's case...:p

I got something in my purse for you - big daddy!!!! ;) :argh: :marchmellow:

. . . . Infiniti have had this feature for years. (Same as Nissan)

That's like beddin' your Mrs and gettin' her stripped down and all primed up and then have someone else come in finish what ya started. . .

You're already in the driver's seat, hand on the shifter, foot on the clutch and then you ain't gonna insert anything??? That just aint right!

:p
