Has anyone installed L7's in their truck. Just starting to think about the audio system and have always been partial to Kicker.

Any details would be appreciated.

Paul

I actually have 2 that i been meaning to install. You wont be dissaspointed if you do. But then they are lil more than what i like. I would just like a nice powerful 10" alpine sub

bah JL audio will out pound a kicker 1 sw7 a 10" no less is like a12" kicker taking less space. I have a sw7 10" with a custom box and a 500 w JL audio amp under my seat, this thing pounds like a king kong. I havent even upgraded the other speakers yet and the thing blows my wifes srt 8 with the up graded kicker system. granted the kicker system that comes stock is weak but thats all upgraded over stock and all i have done is the sub and amp. JL audio all the way.

I am going to look into replacing the whole system in the truck and was wondering if anyone used the existing sub box. I don't want to go nuts but I think the stock system is not up to my standard. I figured I am going to need to build either a custom box or purchase one like this LINK Has anyone else bought one like this?

I do not have to have the best when it comes to car audio but I would like a solid nice sounding system.

Thanks,

Paul

the stock sub box is junk, no room and made cheap. go with a custom box. ive seen people make a box that goes accross the whole back that houses the amp and sub, but i hade mine made to fit right behind the pasenger's seat. covered it with black swade, cant even tell its there, and put the amp under my seat. And no it doesent get hot when you crank it up. the sound is top notch and thats with stock speakers, havent had time to change out the factory stuff. you can even get a sw6 10 inch and the thing is sweet soundingpoinds if you want it to or can cranck out the METAL baby! the amp and speaker with the custom box was 1500 installed. the guy i used knew the freq that the sub used best and used a cad drawing to make the box. i went to music in motion here in chicago.

There is a problem with the stock and aftermarket underseat enclosures for the QC's. The mounting depth is about 6" to 6 1/2" with a .65 cu ft air space per speaker.

The higher end subs require a 8" - 9" mounting depth with 1.25 cu ft and up air space. With the limited space under the seats we have a real challenge to make this work with higher end subs.

I have been toying with the idea of raising the rear seat height 3 or 4 inches. I just haven't had time to finish my stereo project yet.

This is the kind of info I am looking for. I know in my last truck (Sierra) I purchased some blocks that mounted under the seats that lifted the seats up 2 inches. I wonder if they have something like that for our trucks or if it is even possible. I will have to look at how our seats mount to the truck to see if it will work.

Here is the block that goes under the seat brace in the GMC that I had... This one is covered by carpet (disclaimer: not my truck)

I have not looked at how these truck seats mount yet. :dontknow:

Let me know if you find anything for our trucks. I gave up looking and was going to make a custom enclosure.

I replaced my Stock 10" with a 12" JL Audio that was in a Stealthbox from my 01 QC. The installer made a custom box in the original location, except that it goes about half-way across the back, for airspace. It is driven by a Pioneer 760 Watt Amp under my seat. Left the stock speakers everywhere else... for now.

IMO it is far better than stock!!:thrasher:

Nice... Thanks!

Have fun on your trip. I would love to see your truck when you get it back! :burnout:

We will get together after my return. Maybe we can get some of the guys from Panama City to come over or meet in-between.
