Well we almost died!! WTF ????? Crazy thing is they didnt even know this giant bitch was around till two days before it passed by us. How is that possible. It passed less than 50k miles from earth (twice the height of satellites) and is 69 feet by 154 feet. How could they not see something that big flying towards earth?

What was that movie where they said NASA's budget was only big enough to look at like 2% of the sky? Armageddon?! ;)

not only that, but if they came out and made a statement warning us of it, it could cause mass hysteria......

No flicken joke, I was thinking the other day about what I would do if something like that were to happen either while I am asleep or in another country. SCARY! But realistically it's nothing to be concerned about. People here in Africa actually do fine without what we consider basic necessities (i.e. running water, electricity, :dontknow: ESPN2).

Jupiter actually keeps most of the "big" ones away from us.... The gravitational pull of that planet and our (relatively) close proximity to the Sun keep us safe.

........ Now if there is a asteroid that breaks through... say the size of Rhode Island... well, we're toast (literally). But, they will see it coming YEARS before it gets here.

What would people do? Blow off work and: Panic, loot, steal, get drunk, have sex..... I like the get drunk and boink idea!:D

It wouldn't be cool.... Mass suicides, killings, looting... especially if we only have months/days to prepare. If we knew about it a few years before hand, I'm guessing folks would ban together and try to figure out how to change it's flight path.

LOL... yeah, they could'a used a "heads-up". :D

There was a pretty good sized one hit Siberia in the early 1900's. It was about the same size and took out 500 square miles. I mean FLATTENED 500 sq miles!

..... Some even say the "Great Flood" in the Bible was due to a meteor hitting the Indian Ocean and causing a Tsunami. :dontknow:

This is interesting.... There are just a "few" objects floating around out there. :D

Yep, that was it. The other quote was, ".... and it's a big ass sky."

yea i watch the history channel on stuff like this all the time its gonna happen we just never know when and those rocks are travelin at about 29,000 mph so the warning wont help a whole lot

The Bible predicts an asteroid hitting the Earth during the tribulation period.

It's called Wormwood...... (in Russian, Chernobyl also means wormwood .. btw)...

Draw your own conslusions.

The observed NEO "2007 VK184" has a (relatively) high probability of impacting Earth between the years 2048 and 2057. It has the highest probability on the Palermo and Torino Scales.... They give it a 0.034000000% chance of Earth impact.
