I'm interested in getting a used SUV and the LR Discovery looks interesting. Does anyone have any opinions/experience with them and what should I be looking out for? Thanks

Like many on here, I don't own one, but I am in the auto (finance) industry and seen the negative effects of costly repairs on our ability to get auction dollars....also, I've heard more positive than good......if you like high-line autos, the new X5 is pretty kick butt, or the Galandewagon (sp?).....on the cheaper side, I like the new Tahoe's....

I am a big fan of the old Defender 90's, but those haven't been sold here new for a long time....

Good luck

Repair is a consideration. I don't live near any import dealers. All we have in town is Chevy, GMC, Ford & Dodge. I was wondering what kind of dependability issues the LR has. I may be better off with a used domestic but was curious about the Discovery. Thanks

SUV for 4wheeling, winter driving, hauling stuff ? Or SUV because you are a big sumbitch ? :D

1. Big sumbitch
2. Hauling stuff
3. Winter driving

I use to have a Chevy Tahoe which I may go back to but was looking at something a little different.
I'm not doing cars anymore. Have to contort myself getting in and out.

Buy a Tahoe, take the change, and do this:

Wish List: Magnaflow, Forced Induction would be nice :D

My dad owns an 88 Land Rover Discovery and loves it. He just put it a 2" suspension lift kit on it and took it out to Split Mountain, which is in SoCal, last weekend and was very pleased. He has owned a few Jeeps and likes his Rover the best.

1 more here for the POS statement. Sorry, they really are they break down just sitting in the garage. I agree with the buy a tahoe and use the change for mods.

I read some reviews on-line and they basically said the same thing. Thanks for everyone's input. I fear that if I buy a used one, I'll be buying someone else's headache. So I think I will stick with domestic. I know American iron better and can do a lot of my own maintenance/mods.
They did look interesting though.
