At present, I do not own a firearm. But I have been considering it for some time.

I love to shoot, and if I my say so myself, I am pretty good at it! I want to get nice hand gun, and a conceal permit, but I am having a hard time convincing my wife and live-in mother-in-law that it is ok.

I almost bought a Ruger 9mm once, but decided against it because at the time I was living with kids in the house.

These are some fine collections you guys have! Really!
How do you keep them safe in the house? I am asking out of curiosity, not because I don't know how...

I am also asking because I am trying to come up with new ways to convince the wife that it is ok.

I do own a compound bow, and I used to be able to put three in a bottle cap at 60 yards! But it has been a long time since I have even drawn it! (Bad shoulder)

I have 2 large Browning safes, so all but 2 of them is locked up all the time. I keep the Glock 30 at work J.I.C., and I keep the Glock 21 loaded and ready to go in my room. I started at a very early age to take the mystery and couriosity out of firearms for my son. I told him anytime he wants to see one, or handle one, I would make sure it was unloaded, show him it was unloaded and let him handle it. After a few years he wasn't courios about them when he was at home. Then I would take him out shooting and (after I tought him the safe way) let him fire them. I feel if you make it the "forbidden fruit" you are looking for trouble when you are not around.

That is very nice. I have a product in my Glock 21's return spring rod called a "Harts recoil reducer". It is a hollow return spring rod filled with steel balls and mercury. When the gun fires the steel balls and the mercury react in the opposite direction to keep the muzzle more level.

No Sir! If I ever have to use it, I probably won't have time to remove a lock. I thought about a finger touch mini safe, but I noticed very quickly my son just wasn't attracted to the guns after he got to handle them so much (under supervised safe conditions). I have always been very open with my son and told him the whole story (the good and the bad) on every subject he ever asked me about. I found that he tended to choose the right path on his own when given the facts (good and bad) on most subjects. All I can say is, it worked for me.

Very nice. My Desert Eagle is Matte Chrome, yours looks to be brushed Chrome, am I right. Also I purchased the scope and mount right from Magnum Research.

Okay....I dont have any but I qualified with the Sig P-225?? (The one that is a .45) and I loved it!!! I qualified as an Expert, which is no easy feat! Ofcourse, my Dad was all about rifles and pistols so I grew up with them!

My wife on the other hand is skeptical about them...

im with begood, my boys and girl have been taught gun safety and know the dangers of firearms. both my boys know they will loose the privelage of shooting if i see them being unsafe. i do keep mine out of the way behind deadbolt locks. have a few in vehicles when we travel. hunting rifle stays in jeep from november till end of january when season goes out. anyway teach the kids to respect weapons. my boys know what a bullet will do to an animal from hunting.

As i was cleaning my Desert Eagle .50 on thursday, i was thinking that i want to get a different finish on it. Its still the base black. How do you all like your finishes? Which one would you recommend getting? I was thinking the polished and blued, or the black chrome, I'd so get the tigerstripped one if i was more of a pimp. But i just can't do that to my gun.
