Ouch!! Thats generally not recommended with the lightnings. Its possible it exceeded the rev limiter with the nitrous, cut fuel, and there she blew. Stock rods are the weak link and if abused they will exit the block.

I would have never attempt to drive another friends ride with nitrous....too damn risky because if everything under the sun is not aligned...

Regardless he should have stepped up and taken responsibility for letting you drive it in the first place. Because there is always that risk with modified motors. The fact that you stepped up and offered 1/2 towards a built motor shows you accepted some responsibility.

That's what I am thinking. How can he even go after your car insurance....unless you crashed it while driving, they would have nothing to do with it, or am I missing something?

It wasent a story about nitrous blowing up an engine.I have successfully ran nitrous off and on for many years.I run a hobbs switch so if the fuel pressure drops out the nos won't work.oil psi to the story was basically dont drive other peoples stuff modified or not.yes it was a wet kit.
 
Really then what story was it? How the stock Lightning engine cant handle a 150 shot? We could of told you that. Lord knows L's have blown their engines any way you can think of more than once.

You manually shifted the truck which is a big no no. I hit the hell out of my L''s rev limiter trying to do that. You were wrong on that.

You worked on someone else vehicle.

You also drove it.

Moral of the story is you are trying to stir the pot between srt ram owners and L owners. Could of happened with any vehicle. Doesnt matter how many vehicles you have worked on successfully, there's always a chance for error with spray.

This doesnt make any sense! You advised 50 shot, and he installed 150 shot. He asked you to drive. and it broke. You are not at fault. Even if you did screw yourself by offering to pay for half. However the insurance company has nothing to do with anything so i dont know how that came about. Why you were advised to settle out of court is beyond me. Sounds like there is alot more to this whole story.

Fuel pressure doesnt drop when you hit the limiter. It cuts fuel by reducing the injector pulse width or shutting them down all together. The pump still runs maintaining pressure. So you would still be spraying nitrous whether you had a hobbs switch or not. You should be using an RPM window switch, set below the rev limiter. When you ignorantly hit the rev limiter manually shifting the fuel cut, and the nitrous still sprayed, causing an extreme lean condition blowing the engine. More than likely if you let the truck shift automatically you would not have blew the engine. it wasnt the trucks fault, it was your dumbass.
 
Ahh.the lightning still a piece of shit anyways stock modified or otherwise.what's it like 380 HP.wouldn't u expect to gain a 100 horse from any blower bolt on.so what's it a 280 HP.pos.fuck the lightning.I had great pleasure in blowing it up.I don't fuck around its pedal to the floor all out.if its not tuned right set up right don't matter to me.I dam sure wouldn't buy a Ford.so.up yours to u lightning fans
