I've been looking through this awesome forum for awhile now trying to find things to look for in a srt10 truck. I've got another week or two until I get home but I found some low mile qc's in my area and before I go look at them I had a few questions. I know everyone for the most part says to steer clear of qc's because the transmission but I have two kids so I need the four doors. I've read about the oil lines and transmission lines being a weak link. When I go look at these trucks is there anything specifically other then the usual suspects I should look at? They're both 06's (I know they're heavier/underrated on hp) but I've all ready owned an 06 mega so I'm kind of partial to the interior. I'm prepared for the terrible fuel mileage (had a raptor) and higher maintenance costs but is there anything else a prospective buyer should know about? Also do y'all buy aftermarket warranties? I never do. Id plan on doing headers and exhaust and probably a six speed swap later so would there be any point to the warranty? Thanks for any and all insight.

I have an 06 QC & love it. It's just the wife & I, but I like having the extra room for things or people & it's my daily driver. Check it out as you would if you were buying any used muscle car, see if you can talk with the last owner. I bought the warranty, better safe than sorry. It can take care of any surprises the first year, then you can make up your mine what you want to do after you know more about the truck. Shop around. I bought the fourth one I test drove. Good Luck.

I have a QC, the gas mileage isnt as bad as you think, it really just depends on how heavy your foot it. I have right over 80k on mine, no problems as of yet BUT I went to adjust the bands on the trans and messed something up and ended up having the trans rebuilt under my extended warranty. So in my opinion the extended warranty is a smart move. Especially if it is your daily driver like mine. The oil lines do leak, I still havent replaced mine. Just a few drops here and there on the driveway, Im really not that worried about it. As with any new car/truck/bike/lawnmower/anything, change the fluids yourself for the peace of mind. Ive put almost 20k on this truck in a year and I drive it hard, like burnouts everyday and wot everywhere hard. Take care of it, and it will take care of you

Seeing as how you both bought the warranty do you mind me asking how much it cost. So that way I don't let them make me over pay for one. You can pm if you dont want to make it public

If I were you I would get a BLACK QC and cheap back up car and say screw the warranty. Then you can save up for the T56 tranny swap. I can't wait to swap mine! :burnout::D

Or both, if you blow your engine in one of these with no warranty you better have a lot of money sitting around. My warranty wasnt that expensive, around 1500 or so, and its already paid for itself plus some. Its your choice obviously, but I feel a LOT better knowing that Im covered.

I Drive a 05 QC. I love the thing. I am planning on a T56 swap in the near future so that will lessen my worries about the auto.

I have had a few problems with mine. I bought it in July 2010 with 63k. Since then I have replaced:

Oil Lines
Power Steering Lines
Power steering Pump
Power Steering Rack
Belt Tensioner and Belt
Drivers side power seat assembly
Rear Main Seal
"Flap" In the blower motor under the dash
Leaky valve cover gaskets
Throttle Body Sensor
Drivers side front wheel bearing
Passengers side frozen front caliper.
Battery

Has 84k on it now. I don't drive it very hard. I floor it once in a while though.
Still need to replace front lower ball joints as the boots are torn- and needs a passenger side fog light replaced as it has water in it. I think the struts are shot too.

I don't want to discourage you but remember, they are Dodge products. They will break. They will wear out.

Luckily- the vast majority of that list was paid for by an extended warranty. Best $2600 I ever spent. Those items totaled over 5k.

Still though... Buy the 10'
You will be glad you did.

Awesome guys thanks for the info I'll let you know how it goes.

Mine might be for sale. No issues. 29k and allot of mods.
