how much does a live-in "nanny" cost these days? ;-)

A couple of grand a month...but we spent about $50k building a furnished garage apartment, with its own kitchen, bath, and independent heat and air, washer/dryer, central vac, etc.

So that probably adds $12k...with taxes and all the other things probably $40k annually. But we get a full time housekeeper, who will cook a few meals a week, help with our entertaining, do the shopping, take all the beauty parlor, doctor appointment trips, and a lot of the other ash and trash... now if I can get her to change the oil on the truck and clean the wheels I will be in heaven!
