lost oil pressure

on my way to the track and I look down and my oil pressure is on 25 PSI ,, so I pull over check my oil and every thing else... No codes or check gauges lights have come on.. I checked every fuse in the truck. I tried to look for my sending unit but I dont know which one it is . It looks like there is a knock sensor next to it. So I put back in my stock computer and nothing changed. The oil pressure stays on about 10 psi and when I give it gas it goes to about 25...

Any ideas?
 
I tried to call around for just a sending unit and they all said it is a dealer part. What a croc is that is. because as you would know the dealer is closed on sat for parts and service.
 
does somebody have a pic of where the sending unit is and instructions on how to change it out?

Any raise in Temp?? If not I think it's probably the sending unit!!

But better check it out good, could be costly if It isn't!!
 
yes I read that thread,,,, but that is a croc of shit.....how can the truck run at 50 and over for so long and then drop to 10 and be ok.

what was the conclusion on youre truck? have you replaced youre sending unit?

I do not think that it is O.K. If you have only 10 psi then something is wrong.

I agree, something is wrong!!

At Curb Idle Speed* (Minimum with engine at operating temperature) -
68.9 kPa
10 psi

At 3000 RPM -
310-517 kPa
45-75 psi

It has to be within those specifications or else your having an issue (major or just gauge) but either way I would get it fixed before driving it further. You easiest way to get piece of mind is to go to autozone or other parts store, get a oil pressure gauge, and hook it up to the gauge port on the front of the block. Make sure it shows correct pressure, then you know its the oem gauge....if its low, then TOW IT to the dealer.

Oil level does not effect pressure until it gets to an extreme situation (run out of oil!)..so if you have the correct amount of oil., you still have a oil pressure problem.

They replaced the sending uint and relay switch. But it was still doing the same thing. My oil pressure was droppng to 0 whenever I stopped. At idle it would return to normal.

NO oil, No pressure. My engine and oil temp never spiked or even moved.
 
i had the same problem. i put a new mopar filter on it and it was clogged. i changed the oil and it was fine. give it a try
 
I already did that, changed the filter as soon as it happened
 
If you are still under warranty, I would take it back and make them check it out. Good luck. I sent ya a pm back.
 
tahnkyou guys,,, I will be putting a gauge on the block in the morning.... Is that were I screw the gauge in at is were the sensor is at?
 
yes..

2 choices... Either get a "t" and leave the oem gauge connected for a comparison, or remove the sensor and just use the oil pressure gauge taped to the windshield.

Also, buy extra hose (oil pressure), clamps, or anything else you need; so you can extend it to tape it while you drive.. (unless its just an idle issue)
