Lowered the 10

Has anyone or can you you take the rear springs out of a RC and put them in a QC(so they would be under the axel)?? Then it would be real easy to lower it to where you want it??:dontknow:

The first new photo you posted the rear looks fine to me mate. I'd raise the front around 1" and if you're still not happy, have your leaf springs re-tensioned. Get your truck on level ground, see how much you want to drop it, looks like maybe 0 to 1/2" in the rear, tell them to re-tension the springs for 1/2" lower ride height and that's it. Chuck them in, case closed. I still reckon that front is too low. Do you rub at all at highway speeds and over dips while driving?

I would then go to a 305/45 tire that will fill the rear wheel well up better.
i have already 305 / 45 / 22 on the truck.

You could also try the lowering springs for the QC that Tony sells. It will raise the front up a bit, but you are still going to have a rake, considering how high the rear is currently sitting. My truck has his full lowering kit for the QC.

Ok here we we go from the beggining

sammy wanted it lowered, I explained I dotn like lowering the 06 models because of the vibration issues that most have had, so he ordered shackles

then he wanted a little llower in the front, I had one of my customers send me there oem springs from an rc sent them to him, but now the problem is as most know the shackles do not make it sit level, they only drop the rear between 1-2 inches depending on the truck all have seemed different,
now taking into consideration that jsut shackles do not level the truck completely if you add front springs to the truck it will jsut exaggerat the lowered look.

now for some reason that I am not sure of those springs look way to low for one of two reasons, either they were cut at some time, meaning someone at sometime cut some of the coil off the spring, or they did not reinstall the oem spring buffer that is about an inch or so thick on top of the spring, one of those two reasons is the reason it is siting so low in the front.

so they either need to be removed to see if the buffer is in there and if it is they need to be measured so I can see if they have been cut, I did not measure them before I sent them as sammy was really wanting it lowered.

at the moment the only thing sammy you can do to level out the truck is to remove the overload spring, that will drop down the rear about an inch and a half.

now with that being said I have to say this, it does weaken the rear leaf pack, so if you did any towing you would need to add air bags, and I would reccomend caltracs to keep the rear axle from wrapping up on hard acceleration.

now do you have to have the caltracs? I reccomend yes, but I will say emt has had his truck without the caltracs an the overload removed for awhile with no problems or at least I dont thinkk he has caltracs.

but at this moment either the frotn needs to come up or the rear down.

but with shackles only, any drop in the front will exaggerate the rake of the front end.

just called with the shop , and they said the oem spacers where back in with the RC springs...

he said also that the diference between the original springs and the RC springs where appprox. 1 to 1.5".

can it be that the RC springs are thinner and less harder than the original springs ?
and maybe thats why the truck dropped more than the diferance between the springs because the more weight of my Quad Cab...?
are there any people that had RC springs on there 2006 Quad Cab here ?
because i cant find anybody who did...:dontknow:

Carl (Batram) suggest me for making offmarket spacers to replace the oem spacers to make the truck about 1" higher and perfect for me...

Sammy, this was prior to knowing exactly what you have, sounds like a bit of a mess to me lol, sorry to be so blunt. I was simply stating what I would, and what I did with a normal lowering kit on a RC, mine ended up too low, so I raised it. I think it's a good option, short of putting the original springs back on anyhow. Listen to Tony, he knows his stuff and has dealt with more lowering kits than me and probably anyone else on this forum. In short, there isn't much to them. IMO, get some 1 to 1.5" spacers made and call it a day. 2c

Sammy, use / try the coils I have bud.
The ones you have simply can't be stock RC's, it sits lower than mine (using X metal springs).
Also, I noticed you're riding on the bumpstops, you have to cutt those and install smaller ones to get your front suspension back.

Let me know bro.

ok , but i dont want to lower the back because of the issues and the comfort.

if i only could see another Quad Cab that replace the oem springs for the RC springs , and see how this truck sit's...

sure. But also with these you need to cut the bumpstops ;)
are they as low as the RC springs ?
if so , why change...?

Has anyone else on here put RC springs on an 06 QC? Aren't 06 QCs the heaviest of the bunch. Don't quote me on this as I have only read it on here a few times, but have never confirmed it, but don't 06 QCs use a heavier HD frame than the previous years? Maybe his truck is just too heavy for the springs?

I think the 06's use the 2500 frame.

that is what I thought I had sent him was 06 oem rc springs, but something isnt right
i tought u had experience with this 2006 QC - RC springs change...
tommorow it wil be dry in this rainy country.
can i check easy if the oem spacers are in ?
do i need to get the inner fender off ?

just gonna check this , although the guy from the shop told me they where back on...
but now i'm hitting the frame constantly...

I think the 04-05 use a 2500 frame and the 06 uses a 3500 frame. Thats why the 06 weighs about 500lbs more.

i did , I have, and once again I state, something is not correct, your best bet is to put back in the oem springs, continuusly going back over and over this is not gonna raise the front of the truck back up.
the ones we have done were fine, have been fine, but I am not there, I did not work on the truck. I got you a set of 06 rc front springs an sent them to you, the only thing I can think of that I did not check is if they had been previosly cut. no way of telling without removing the springs,
either way WITH ANYTHING OTHER THEN OEM your still gonna have a rake in the front end because the shackels are jsut desinged to level the truck, dropping the front is gonna exaggerate the rake all over again,
this is one of the reasons I told you over and over I dont like loweirng the 06 modles, they are a pain in the ass!
put the oem springs back in or get new rear leaf kit , which we talked about, but I cannot confirm that they WILL DEFINITLY fit or not, or if they will cause a vibration or not, I jsut cant bro, I cannnot tell you you WANT have vibrations, some do some dont, we talked about that.
your options are,
put the oem springs back in, and leave it alone and not have problems
remove the overload spring in the rear.
replace with the rc springs floor has , see if there is a difference
add a spacer buffer n the springs you have to raise it an inch
jsut remember, you start altering the driveline angle from dropping the rear, and you may or may not have vibration issues

Tony , what if i only put the front springs of your lowering kit on my truck ?
are they higher or stronger than the RC springs ?
