Alright well I need somethin to do so I decided to make my own midpipes.
There goin be out of steel and I'm using pre-bent corner pieces and angles from summit. There also gonna have some exhaust cut-outs for the track.
However i have a few questions???
what size piping is our exhaust? 2 1/4 or 2 1/2?
Should I also add crossover pipe? If so X or h pipe? (will be infront of cutouts)
Where or who can i buy the o2 sensor bungs?
Who or where can i buy the o2 sims?
Lastly what do you recommend i do for exhaust flanges? Should they just be flat with a gasket or should i get the pipe flared and use a ummm,,like pressure type flange?
also is there a particular brand of exhaust cutouts you guys rec? I cant afford electric, but i might do the mechanical cable kind.
Thanks for any input.

Oh and one more thing I could get them chrome plated for free i want to, do you think thats a good idea for bling and rust concerns?

If you're going to stay the same size, why not just start with the stock mids? Or a set of boomers catless mids if you want to save the stockers. Still have work to do to make them even more custom with the cutouts and the crossover. I think fastjack recently indicated X was better? Might turn something up on a search. .02

Well I want keep the cats midpipes intact in case I ever run into warranty work or I need a smog check. as for the size i intend to get the MF exhaust and would like for to bolt up no promblem. As for the boomers mids, they are really nice yet i rather spend the $600 for his shifter instead. So far it looks like I'll have these pipes together for less than $200.

Just a thought here, have you checked with a custom exhaust shop? You might be able to get all that done for less than $200 :dontknow: If you prefer to do all the work yourself then

nah havnt checked yet, i bet they probably could do it for less than 200. Yet at the same time I would like make them myself since that would make them even more kickass.

I've had no luck at local shope in getting the cats removed. looks like a do-it-yourself option isn't that bad of an idea

Yea , here in cali, all the muffler shops I contacted wont put in my catless mids due to emmision regulations.

Makes sense. Keep in mind the Magnaflow bolts up to the oem mids, so if you are looking true 3 inch all the way, there will be a little modification there to do as well. Cool project though. Good luck.

We gave you all the advice you need.....Buy some mid pipes or go have a muffler shop weld in some straight pipe....:D

I dont have the luxury to just buy $650 midpipes, i'm sure there nice and all but a lil out of hand right now. Mufflers shops i've been to in the past wont cut em out because its illegal. Also i want keep the cats intact cuz when it comes time for smog check i could just bolt em in no prom'. (instead of paying +$300 for a crooked) Besides I've always liked doing work all myself, i mean it is what i do.:dontknow: (nowwhat=catalog racer):D

So i still need help getting info on where i can get the o2 sims and o2 sensor bungs.....anyone:(

you can get the sims and the bungs out of a catalog.....:D

I took a former car to a muffler shop he cut out the cats...welded in pipe and charged me $100.00....yeah it only took him 15 minutes...but you will spend that much doing it yourself...

You can get the bungs from Summit or your local exhaust shop. The sims from Roe Racing or Boomer.

I prolly will spend a lot more time doing my self or actually I have,, but I'm sure the satisfaction I'll get when it's all done will be worth it. Besides the time I spent getting the exhaust down and takin measurements is well spent. I'd prolly be inside the houz on the forum doin nothin, instead pops and i were outside workin and drinkin a couple beers workin on what we love:star:

Well as long as you are being supervised by pops.....:D

it shouldnt be a problem as long as you have a wire welder and a cutter, the problem are is over the crossbrace, some time and fabbing will take alot of aggravation in that area. Some of the bends are small, so you may have to cut an do some of your own bends. the bungs for the o2's can be found on jegs or summit website, jsut be sure ot put them in the stock position or since its the rear o2's just get sims, much easier, take care in welding also, it'll burn thru in a heartbeat. also stay away from chroming it will flak off or rust thur, oh but yousaid you could get it free , that wouldnt be too bad, forgot about that. Also use band clamps they seal better and are removable easier. other than that have at it.
