EDIT: after doing a couple conversions my thermometer must be screwed...
100 Celsius = 212 Fahrenheit
200 = 392
250 = 482

my readings can't be right can they??

Have a infrared thermometer and checked the temps on my cats, muffler, resonator and manifolds. Mainly because i wanted to see if my cats are clogged...
I dont know if these numbers mean anything but do they seem normal?

Front to back (manifolds back...) temps in CELSIUS.

150 | |160
210 | |230
250 | |245
260 | |255 <exhaust manifold
250 | |220

200 {} {} 250 <front cats
250 {} {} 240 <back cats

( )
( ) 100 <muffler

[] 60 <resonator
II
70 70 <tips

My main question is about the cats. What is normal for these cats to run at temperature wise?
This was after a long highway drive then a short drive through town to my house. temps were taken during idle. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

EDIT: spacing didn't work but i think you can get the idea... also the battery was going low on the thermometer... ill change it and check it again if these numbers seem inaccurate.

Just remove them! They should run at or near manifold temp. So depending on how you drive the temp will vary. They are supposed to catch and cook any unburied hydrocarbons before exiting the exhaust. Very restrictive so that they get hot quickly.

Cats normally operate around 1500 F. when they are working (up to temperature) but can get quite a bit hotter than that if/before they fail...upwards of 1950 F. which is pretty toasty..

I'm not sure what the cat temp should be. I know they run hot, hot. On my 06 RC with a Mopar catback, after running it you don't want to touch the rear tip -- it will burn your fingers.
