Now I am REALLY confused. In the thread "T-56 Manual Transmission fluid Change" The #18 post by NBT includes a link to the service manual that states on page 6-2 the fluid capacity of the transmission is 4.1 quarts. WTF?:dontknow:

i have the dodge service manual on my computer unless its printed incorectly 2.27 ltrs is 4.8 pnts is 2.399 quarts for the t-56 trans.

thats where I got it from... techconnect. there is a fill plug on these trans you basically fill it until the fluid runs out of the fill plug.

You should take a look at the link by NBT mentioned in my previous post. Sorry Steve, I know you were looking for a simple answer. Lets sort this out together.

As memory would serve me, Just about 4 quarts. I also changed Treker's. I could have sworn it was just about 4 quarts. But hey, I could be wrong. I bought 6 qts. I have a bottle in the garage, I'll go check just in case they are a different measure...........................................give me a second. (PS your attempt at humor did NOT go unoticed, wiseguy)

thats how i have done it!!!its full when you cant put anymore in

Almost 4 qts!

:burnout: yep, it will take almost 4 quarts, as in if you drain it when the truck is level and fill it into the proper fill hole, you will use almost 4 quarts until it starts to come out the fill hole. If you buy 3 quarts, which is semi-technically "almost" 4 quarts, you will not have enough. If you buy 4 quarts and are really messy and spill .25 quarts on the ground, you will not have enough. So, if you are messy, you may need 16 quarts or more, but if you are not messy, 4 quarts will do ya!:p
