I bought Mcgaughy's lowering kit ( 2/4 drop) for my truck.Had a local company install it. Looked Killer but, when you drove down the road it was so ruff. It was like every hole, bump, anything that was on the road, the back of the truck would hit so hard that i thought i was going to mess something up.That was on a Friday and Monday morning they were pulling that back off. I just told them to raise it back up were it was and then drop the back end alittle to level it off.My question is does all 2/4 drop kits ride ruff?

Not sure about the 2/4, but my 1/2 drop(and others I have been in) isn't too bad. Stinker is the man to talk to on this one:rock:

OK,another person with the exact same problem I had !!!Put mine on one weekend, the very next it came back off !!!And this is where one question I had never was answered definitively,is the QC Chassis a 1500 or 2500 ?? I took my kit off and put it on a friends Ram 1500 RC and his truck drives like a dream !!!I then bought the Xmetal kit,and it was much better,NOT perfect, but acceptable !!On my McG kit the front end rode on the bump stops, and was God awful to deal with !! In my Personal Opinion,I'd love to try a kit for a 2500 and see what the results would be !!

stockers ride on the bump stops.

Yep, you was on the stops. The kit isn't right for our trucks. They fit but the springs are just too small. Problem not solved because (for me) the truck floated a ton, and the tires would rub the inner fender well. The only way to solve the kit's problems is either to live with the rubbing or take it off. The rear flip kit is CHEAP also. (just for Ronnie, this is my opinion based on my experience's with this kit. ;) )

I gave mine to a buddy and it was OK on a V6 quad cab.

most of the kits out there are not for our trucks, state a couple times.

they are designed for the hemi trucks there springs and such run a lighter sprign rate, hence the reason I was asked to start or to try to do front springs for our trucks, hence the result is of what you asked for , its an xtreme drop, with a stiffer oem spring.
on the front you must elongate the upper control arm mounts, and you must cut off the oem bumpstop and install an aftermarket one.

on the rear, it really gets fun, a bolt on flip kit doesnt work well on our trucks due to the hp and wieght. I had four or five guys stating that it would eventually bend and wrap up the rear axle, causing major damage, thats why we came up with the combination of belltech parts.

it welds on, that way you get a concrete mount on the axle , not somehting bolted on.

on hte rear you must change the shocks or use shock extenders, on the bumpstop you need to remove the rear bumpstop the oem one, and use a mount that moves it to just outside the frame and higher than the oem or cut the oem one down to almost nothing.

after messing with these things for so long I have decided they aint 1500 hemis 2500 hemis or 3500 hemis, they are a parts bin conglameration of SRT-10 parts, they are there own.

if you want to do a simple drop i suggest shackles, , remove the overload spring, and using the simple rate small air bags for a touch of support,
that way you keep the oem ride, and dont hurt anything, and caltracs are almost a must unless you are going just for the show set up, and not worried about performance

To answer your question: no, they don't.

Nothing like a skateboard suspension on a 500 HP truck. Listen to Stinker. He knows these trucks.

I have the x metal kit, stock shocks, new front bump stops and cut rear bumpstops. Rides and looks great.

I would still like to know if the Hotchkis will work on our trucks.

It Doesn't Matter Which Kit You Use!!!!!! These trucks will need helper bags to ride comfortably when you drop them!!!:)

In the rear, The front can't be helped.

I now the sway bars bolt right on. I was wondering about the rear leaf's from thier TVS kit.

getusum, what you doing over there spending all of this money on lowering your truck. Just flip the rear and cut the front springs. All the local kids are going it these days!:shot:
