I used mcleod clutches for a TT smallblock foxbody stang (5 speed) that i played with back in the day-had very good luck with them...anybody using one in their ram?

thats one of the choices for the big horse guys.

hot one now is the Spec clutch with Stinker's hyd.'s

Thats kinda why i was thinkn a mcleod- id like to do it right the first time....unless its unbearable on the street...

I'm glad somebody started this thread because I saw the Mcleod twin disc and was wondering if anyone ran that?

I have a McLeod twin disc, and the peddal pressure was very high until I installed the JTS Venom upgrade (metal) master and slave. Now its very managable. Clutch has been great at the strip, no problems ever, going on 2 years plus and lots of passes (50-100+), I can't count them all but I have a drawer full of time slips!

Great info. thanks for the response. I better start saving for that, the aluminum flywheel and hydraulics upgrade now.

I am using a RAM dual disc clutch setup with the 900 series sintered irons discs (I dont recommend the organic discs), it comes with the flywheel as a assembly. The price was right and so far I am very happy with it. Using Tony's hydraulic kit with this clutch the pedal has less resistance than the factory setup.

If you buy the aluminum flywheel now it will be a waste of money, if you buy from either McLeod or RAM they will come with flywheels.

Heres what happens with organic discs, this was at 4000RPM if I remember right.

I didn't realize they came as an assembly, thanks for the heads up.

I abuse my spec 3+ a lot. Works fine.

Going with a Mcleod dual disc asap though. I want a lighter pedal. That's my only reason.

Yeah.....i was planning on the master and slave upgrade when i do the clutch this winter...i abbused the crap out of the one in my TT stang and had no issues!...

Good question. It's the plastic OEM one from a gen 2 viper. Same goes for the slave. Of course the slave is metal.

I'm going to call up a local shop to see if they can shim my clutch for me. I have had it with this thing. I want it to shift easy under load and/or WOT.

I dont see how your spec 3+ feels light. The only reason i want to go to a dual disc is for a much lighter clutch pedal.

All you need to shim is the slave cylinder, might try a gen 3 master for the pedal pressure issue?

two other people i know have spec 3+ and theirs feels hard like mine. One is a cable on a terminator, other is in a 05+ body style mustang which is hydraulic. So i will keep my current master cylinder. Although if the external dimensions of the gen 3 are the same, i can swap easy.

Is there a picture of a gen 3 viper clutch master cylinder?

However, i am going to shim it as soon as the a shop can do it.

I missed this post somehow......were you using the oem viper hydraulics?
