Here's another question:

I was tuned to Chevron pump gas (91 Octane) with 2 bottles of STP octane boost. What kind of race gas should I get (C116 118octane or C23 125octane) and what proportions of each for a full tank of 26 gallons.

They offer Q23 which is oxygenated 125 octane. Do we want oxygenated fuel and why?

All 3 race gases mentioned above are leaded. How will this effect the Hi Flow cats and O2 sensors?

What would you say is the best way to go instead of buying 2 bottles of octane boost every time I go to the track?

Thanks,
Brad

Not sure if you should run leaded gas with your Hi flow cats.

any of those fuels should do, just get her low before getting to the track, then add about 5 gals of race fuel , you should be good.

oxygenated fuels basically are jsut that, they have more oxygen added to the fuel which allows you to run the engine leaner than normal thus a better tune and more power.

Leaded fuels are not good for the cats, but in small doses you should be fine, but over time they will have an affect.

Most of these higher octane's are for Trucks that are running without cats.
Cat-Less Mids.

If you are tuned for 91...just run 91.....

the octane boost is a non factor....

if you are talking about a cheap insurance policy....?...that is what the meth is for....

still want more...?....Talk to Mike K about the Torco additive he ordered on the interenet....great stuff, easy to get, easy to store and cheaper to run....

i actually agree with him on this run what you tuned with. all except the additive ...just because i have no experiance with it! VP makes really good fuel i run c16 in my drag bike no problems at all....all though i have never mixed race gas with regular fuel but i am sure you can!!!

Good to know. I value your knowledge. 1 question: Why is the Octane Boost a non factor?

Nevermind the cats, lead will quickly ruin the O2 sensors.:vollkommenauf:

There are unleaded racing fuels, BTW.

You are tuned for 91+Booster+Meth...anyone of those drop out of the equation, and your tune will be off, and PCM will take over in certian areas.

I you need a 91 pump tune, your tune can be modified. At the track, as stinker said, I would run to 1/4 tank and then add your Race Gas (VP109 Unleaded is a good choice).

Torco is what I use...(I buy it in the 5 Gallon Drums)

He thinks your tuned for 91 octane. What octane was your gas at when you tuned it?

The only thing with unleaded racing fuels is that the highest rating is 104 octane. At least this is what I was told by the speed shop. If I mix super unleaded 91 octane fuel 4.5 to 1 with 120 octane race I will be able to achieve a 96 octane mix. What ratio would I have to mix 104 octane unleaded race fuel to get the desired 96 octane rating?

91 plus two bottles of STP Octane Boost to a full tank. The STP octane boost has to account for some octane boost or STP octane boost product will have to answer a few question.

I just want to make sure at the track I have at least the same octane rating that we tuned for. I assumed from the literature on the STP octane boost that I increased the octane 2 points for each bottle. So my calculations were 91 plus 4 and 1 more for good measure making a 96 octane mix for safety.

If I use the Torco what percentage do I mix with 91 Super Unleaded?

BTW you shouldn't be working on your Birthday.

first off.....2 bottles of STP boooster = nada...nothing....zero....keep in mind when they say you will pick up 3 points from a bottle....they mean....

.3 as in 91.3 octane.....

Brad....there are several 76 stations that sell 100 octane unleaded right out of the pump....no issues...but again the torco accelerator is awesome....leaded race fuel will eat up your 02 sensors unless you buy ones that can handle the lead...you will get some hours out of the cats before they go south...I ran leaded in my car with cats for 20 hours with no problems...
