MAX Enlisted Pay- $87,732 per year
MAX Officer Pay- $230,868 per year

... ... Keep in mind that is just BASIC pay. Does not include Housing Allowance or Basic Allowance for Sustanance.

Not that I think enlisted should make equal amounts, but it is rediculous that Officers make so much. They are constantly cutting our budgets and kicking people out to save money....well take a look at officer pay. There is no reason that a brand new officer (day 1 in active duty military) should make more than I do as an E-5 with 7 years of service. In fact, I will not catch up with their pay until I hit my 8 year mark.

Old saying about aircraft mechanics (enlisted) versus the pilots (officer): "It takes a highschool education to fix what a college education just broke"

Been there did that...

E-5 Avionics F-16's

But its worse that that, you have the officer over in CBPO whose biggest risk is an ink stain on his finger makes what a pilot does and that E-5 paper pusher with the chest full of ribbons that couldn't save a pencil from rolling off the desk get the same pay...

Rant continued

Well I think that's just life, they went to school for 4 years to become officers correct? Anywhere you work will be the same way. I think a more accurate comparison would be average pay not max pay. I've never met anyone in the army making anywhere close to 87k?:dontknow:

Its run like a business/enterprise man..

Officers hold the positions of Managers all the way to CEO's.

Enlisted are the minimum wage workers and at most Assistants to the managers and CEO's.

I got out at 10 yrs as an E-6. Now I go to school and make just as much as when I was in basically.

I dont think its right either, but its just how it is.

I don't see how enlisted could bitch about 87K Damn...

That is MAX pay man...

an E-1 makes 1500$ a month. If he is in a combat zone then he gets to keep the taxes from that 1500$. You can complain about that........
Not everyone makes the MAX pay.

As an E-1 I made about 400 a month after taxes......

87k would be a CSM at like 28 years in service. I'd say it's around 30k for enlisted, and 50k for officers on average.

I make around 24k:eek: Just gotta be good with your $$$ and not do anything stupid like get married:p That's what I tell people when they ask how I can afford my toys:D

We are underpaid though... especially on the enlisted side. 15 months in Iraq got me around 35k. A civilian doing the same job makes 150-180k for a year:mad:

where the hell did you come up with this...your right about a a 0-10 with over 38 years of service and csm with 38 years as well... but when you factor in bah and bas your doing pretty good...when you have a civilian job they dont pay you neither...so what the hell you complaining about....an E-6 with over 12 years makes 41244 plus bah 25200 in my area and another 3000 for bas... that is not that bad... plus you get every 3 and 4 day weekends off....what the hell you mad about...go get a regular job and see if you can do better ... I did...I had to kill myself to make 90k a year ....i don't think it was worth it... i never had time for my family...i know you air force have it way easier than us army guys ....again what the hell are you complaining about guy.....

You should check out the max weight allowances for a PCS. A brand new 2Lt is allowed the same weight as an E-8 or E-7. How many people right out of college have 15,000 lbs worth of stuff to move? E-5 w/ dependents gets 9000. I can understand the pay differences to an extent, but that kind of gap between how much furniture you can move is pretty ridiculous.

I always find that to be a funny statement....I have spent time in Afghanistan and Iraq and Qatar....been all over the damn world....AS A FULL TIME SINGLE FATHER! So, I as an Air Force guy, have made many sacrafices as well. And if you read my first post, I mentioned that the numbers I gave didn't include BAH os BAS AND even said I thought enlisted were paid very well. My complaint is that an officer (with no knowledge in their career field in the Air Force at first) gets paid so much more than enlisted. It is the enlisted that the new officers really learn from. A smart LT will go to the E-5s and E-6s to learn about how things work in the real military.

-Side Rant-

No, Air Force does not deploy as much or as long as Army or Marines. That is not our main mission. Our main mission is to train/move/sustain the fight. Look at Travis AFB in California. Their main mission is to move cargo and people via military aircraft. On average, what is the Army's main mission at home station? To train, to prepare for deployments. That is you job, your role in the fight. Try getting to that fight without any help from the Air Force. Hell, most of your communication, combat support, "eyes on target", comes from the Air Force. So, I can't stand those "I'm better than you because I'm army or a marine" stupid ass comments. If you want to complain about your deployments, then you joined the wrong branch. Which brings me to my next comment, I could have joined any branch I wanted to because of my ASVAB score...could you...or most of your Army buddies? Or did you join the Army out of lack of options.

I've never heard anybody say they're "better" than anybody else because of the branch they serve in. He simpy said you have it easier than we do, and I think that's pretty much fact. It's basically pride over who has a shitter quality of life lol. Army and Marines definitely have that over the Air Force and Navy. Air Force guys at Ft Hood were getting "substandard living allowance" while staying in the nicest Army barracks I've ever seen lol. The infantry give us aviation guys the same shit because their lives suck worse than ours:dontknow: Just the way it is.

Oh ya... I coud have joined any branch as well... so could all of my buddies. You gotta score pretty well to work on and crew aircraft. So don't think you're a badass, and try to take a cheap shot there;)

PS... it's civilian aircraft getting us to the fight:p well, most of the way:aetsch:

Wasn't taking a cheap shot.....just stating a trend. There is not one person in the Air Force that couldn't join any other branch....not the case for those wanting to join the Air Force. I know my branch isn't better than any other....it has it's role. Just tired of the ignorant comments like "you guys have it so easy". Don't mistake the fact that the Air Force takes better care of their people for an "easier" life. Nice facilities didn't help prevent my marriage from failing due to deployments. Nice facilities didn't have me home for my son's first birthday and his first Christmas. Nice facilities didn't save my knee from injury from an RPG explosion on the flightline. Nice facilities in no way makes it "easier" for us. Just makes it nicer.

was that 35K with hazard pay, and separation pay, etc ?

seems low bro. I would figure more than that.
