So I searched the forum and can't find what I am looking for. The previous owner of my truck put chrome half covers on the mirrors. Well instead of just using the 3M backing, they also used what looks like glue from a hot glue gun and some other sort of adhesive. I was able to get a lot of it off using my fingernails, razor blade and adhesive remover. But, they are in really poor shape. So I want to just sand them down and paint them. Do the mirrors need to be removed first in order to disassemble them? How do I get the mirror apart? It feels like it wants to pull apart but don't want to force it. Thanks!
