Ugh... Ive seen people run like 5 pounds and be okay right???
Some are, some are not. I think it is just a matter of time when you are playing with this much power pushing that much weight.

For me it would be simple.......

Keep it stock.....

It will last for 300k miles

everything else is a crap shoot, and the odds are bad

Well I kno im gonna drop it but the truck is not gonna be daily driven. Just in the summer to the track and taken up for challenges.. So I was thinkin about just addin a roots style blower or a paxton then do the bolt ons after that big power jump. Or just get a drop as soon as I get it because I currently have a truck thats lowered and I love it. Tottally changed how it handled and everything...

So I guess my plans for the truck are just leavin the internals stock and just addin a blower and bolt ons with a tune and leave it alone...

Leave it alone till I get set up later in life and I can throw money at it before I get a wife/kids hahahhahaha cause i kno my wife will kill me for spendin all this dime on a truck lol

So basically im asking... Whats better to do. Drop/exhaust/headers or just use that money and put it towards the blower??

If your first two sentences are truly what you plan to do...here are my suggestions:

1. Sell the truck...it will never be as fast as you want it for the track unless you are willing to invest $150 - 200k (Examples: Dom and FstJack, both have that much invested and are still not where they want to be...but both are very close.)

2. If you are going to race the SRT 10, begin by forging the engine...tear it down, forged rods, forged pistons, billet mains, complete valve train replacement.

3. Go with a power adder, (Roe, Paxton, Procharger) and consider NOS/Water Meth/Intercooler (Paxton comes with the intercooler).

4. Start working on traction immediately. You will probably need a 4-Link and you will spend as much on traction and suspension as you do on engine modifications.

5. Strip all comfort items...air conditioning, power steering, cruise control, heater, glass, fuel tank (and fuel pump), fender liners, seats, radio/stereo/navigation, carpet etc. Replace every part that has to be replaced with light weight components.

Now you are about ready to go racing...except that you will have to get licensed, have a roll cage built and don't forget the parachute...and you still may not be in the low 10's. That might take another $50k or so.

Now if that is a little too much...reconsider your goals...maybe you want a quick street machine that you drive on nice days, and take to the strip from time to time.

If you want it to be the machine I described above...you might want to save $30 to 50k before you start. And if you plan to put off the forging of the engine add $20k to the amount you will need because you will dust the engine once or twice in route with a Forced Injection approach. One of those times you will add a window to your block and those learning experiences will cost you the extra $20k.

Here is my practical recommendation:

1. Forge the engine.

2. Select the power adder that you want (Roe for my street truck).

3. Find a way to cool the air as it enters the intake (water/meth, NOS or intercooler). And get the air out with long tube headers, and cat delete.

4. Add a Locker Rear End, with stronger axles and smaller rear caliper so you can use 15 or 16 inch slicks when you want to. Do a drive line loop while you are at it.

5. Find a great tuner (Roe Racing, or DC Performance are my recommendations), and listen to them and don't let anyone else touch your tuning.

6. Plan for everything to go wrong, plan to spend twice what you thought, but drive it like you stole it!

Or...

You can listen to Viper Jeff.

In the not so exact words of Prof several years ago, "if you don't have the disposable cash to play with, don't do it". You will create a money pit; which at one point you will look at one day and ask yourself "why did I do that". In addition to the money issue, you would need to be prepared for the downtime, as well as all the aggravation that comes along with a build--NOTHING ever goes as planned, and you better have additional funds to deal with those problems. A worst case scenario would be a complete rebuild after your first complete rebuild. At the end of the day, you could risk losing interest in the truck because of all the issues; putting it up for sale and taking a huge loss on the truck and all the parts you just put on. I'm not trying to discourage you from a build....just be prepared for the aftermath.

A lot depends on two issues:

Who is doing the work and how much do you want to spend for rods, pistons and main bearings.

You can forge one for $4-7k, or you can spend $14-18k you choose your level!

Here is a guy that will give you all of the options:

Yea I was thinking about doing a forged bottom end along with a ROE.....sometime down the line....I think i might jsut stick with the usual bolt ons and jsut have a fast dependable street truck!

Good concept...look at what I have done to mine...and also note that I have a sponsor!

My truck has probably $70k in it...and it is just a quick street truck...but totally reliable, with no issues...but I have paid serious money to get it there.

You can leave it stock and have a great quick truck.

You can mod it and have a great really quick truck spending $20 to 30k extra.

Or you can have a really fast and reliable street truck for $50 - 70k...

Beyond that is serious racing territory...and involves really big bucks!

Yea right now my mods list is looking like
-Mopar LT's with mids minus cats
-Magnaflow catback minus cats
-JMB CAI with catch can
-BBK TB
-170 stat
-SCT tuned by Torrie
-Caltracs
-Possibly a built tranny

I think that will be pretty much it for performance for me after reading through tons of post......

No I dont like cars as much as trucks....

I love my truck beyond belief... My dad has a z06 that I drive from time to time and I say if only i could have more power and a 6 speed in a rc truck it would be perfect!!

The srt-10 is that truck!

Now im not going for the 1/4 record by all means.. I just would love a REALLY nasty truck that kicks cars on the street and the track. Hense the supercharged option.

No i hate lightnings.. All my friends are SVT mechanics and hate that Im not getting a cobra or a lightning.. I dont care... The srt-10s are just a monster. They look and sound like no other car EVER! There is nothing i would change other than the stance on the truck. Wheels interior dash... EVERYTHING is perfect!! Just performance needs to be altered a tinnnyyy bit

I went with the fully forged and built engine and tranny with a ROE and water/meth injection running 11PSI boost and into it for over $30K plus purchase price to give you an idea on cost wise.
