I bought a Mopar ECM off a member here and the install is pretty straight forward. I disconnected the negative battery terminal prior to install, hooked everything back up to the new computer and reinstalled the negative battery terminal. When I go to start the truck the truck will not run for more than 5 seconds then shuts off. I'm clueless at this point? I double checked all my connections and everything is good. I went ahead and put the stocker back in and it runs fine. I assume the computer is no good?? :dontknow:

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

is that little red light on solid in the cluster? if it is its because of you sentry key system. who reprogrammed your vin?

The ecm has to have the vin flashed into it. When they do this it puts in the mileage, key codes and sentry codes for the ignition.

not quite... it just needs the vin. sentry pin code is stored in the sentry module, but if the vin is incorrect in the pcm it will not communicate to the sentry due to a mismatched vin.

I was not aware that the VIN had to be programmed into the Mopar ECM. Where can I get this done at?

I guess I will just resell it then. I was under the impression that it was plug and play since it was a Mopar ECM. I don't want to invest the money into a Mopar ECM if I could possibly spend that money on a new upcoming programmer and possibly net more horsepower and features. I know the Mopar ECM can't be reflashed so to me its pointless to spend the money. By the time its all said and done I have $500.00 invested into a MOPAR ECM and could have bought one cheaper new with the VIN programmed.

Research is critical before you mod one of these trucks. Ask us first...you will get good guidance.

We have all made similar mistakes it takes two or three before you learn to touch base with someone you know well here...there are always people willing to help and get you up to speed.

I did do my research and understood that a regular ECM had to have the VIN programmed and was under the assumption the MOPAR PERFORMANCE ECM did not, thought I read that somewhere. No big deal someone will buy it off here or E-BAY. I will just let the buyer know that it must be reprogrammed with a new VIN to work so there are no assumptions made.

Trust me I know about research. I have an import car with almost 25K in aftermarket parts and I can't tell you the amount of time I spent doing research on a car of that magnatude.

yeah new mopar pcm shipped is around 300.00 for an 05.. sorry to hear about your purchase.. and the mopar pcm can be reflashed..

Have Boomer re-flash for $150 and your out $350. Regular price would be $900. Do the math my friend.

I spent around 900 bones for computer and flash. Its def.worth it in the Q/C
I keep my stock one for towing. Not sure if you really get alot in the R/C
