Hey all,
I am looking for more power...without going to a supercharger, nitrous, or turbo. I can't justify spending $8k on any of those. My current performance mods include: Stage II flash, catless mids, Magnaflow catback, CAI (which I think is robbing power and I may take it off). Any suggestions? I am thinking headers but I do not know much about them. Long or short? Which brand? How much HP will they add and how much louder? Any answers? other suggestions?:dontknow:

Headers will give you minimal improvements for the money they cost. You could go for a heads and cam package like Vipertruck2933. Since Boomer is in the same state as you (same city?) I would contact him for some type of package. You could add water/meth injection but that would require a VEC2 or 3 which is around 1000 off the bat.

Guess it boils down to how much you're willing to spend.

No offense Chase...........

But it seems that your asking for something for nothing.....

You have a few less costly mods already, which is good..... Cats out is great and cheap ponies.... But if you want to see significant gains yer just gonna have to spend the bucks.....

Good headers cost around a grand and give you miminal hp increases... Same goes for other less costly upgrades.....

Big power means big bucks........ Ask Mike Brady (Nowwhat) what he has into his truck.... Hell, I'll bet he could (at least) buy another truck with what he spent just to reach high 10's........

I'm a believer in the saying, "There's no big power for free...."

Bingo!

Be happy with where you are or get ready to drop some coin.

How about one of Boomers throttle bodies? I hear its good for about 13HP for around 500 bones. How about lowering the truck and taking full advantage of the power you have. I'm not much of a straight line guy and these trucks are fast in a straight line. I'm all about the corners and to me the power these truck put out after coming out of the corner is perfect once the suspension is setup.

I would love to add a SC but for the money I agree way to much chedda especially if I'm still under warranty. I assume your still under warranty?

The old saying still applies;

"Speed costs, how fast do you want to go"?

Bill.

thanks for all the responses...I know speed costs. Was just wondering if there was anything I was missing. I am thinking about the lowering as I like the corners too....but I also like the "truck" look. Dont want to slam it and alot of complaints about the lowering kits out there. With the mods I have what do you all think I am at as far as rwhp?

I agree with Nowwhat. Modding it anymore than you have will not only cost you more money but also your warranty. I would wait till the warranty goes away before throwing down more money, plus it will give you time to enjoy the truck.

If an unsympathetic dealer caught wind of a Stage II Flash, could that void the powertrain warranty....?

I would imagine so. I'm another that is concerned about losing the warranty even if I have less than 4k miles on it. But I was planning for an extended warranty; meanwhile, I've been entertaining the thought of a Paxton..

You'll get no argument from me, Anthony.....;)

just keep your OEM headers and get them jet-hot coated for about $400.00.as soon as i get my extra set back and installed i will have a spare set to send to anyone who wants to do the same. ($100.00 shipped)

I with ya! I have that debate with myself daily!

Chase,
Leave it the way it is. You are asking for something for nothing.
It takes big $ to make big reliable HP.
If you want to do headers, then the Bassani's are the way to go.
You will notice a seat of the pants improvement with the Bassani's.
The header debate is really a moot question as there too many folks including myself that have spent lots of $'s for headers many times over.
If they did not work we would not continue to spend the $'s.

On a normally aspirated motor, headers offer a good bang for the buck.

Warranty ? Even with all my mods, I dont have any probs with warranty work.*

Replacing the stock mids is the best bang for the buck.

Take a set of mids, catback and stage II and call me in morning :D

$8000??? i spent $800 on my nitrous system. I think the base system is under $600.
