More Power

If you want to stay N/A but want more power, you only have a few options left and they all cost alot of money.

Long tube headers will give you a good hp pickup of around 20 rwhp. You will feel the difference in the seat of the pants. It will also cost you a couple grand to get it done.

Your other options are cam and heads. If you are going to do one, you should do both. Look to spend 6-8K and you will need a good tuner to get it right after the build.;)

Thanks again guys...gotta love this forum. It will stay as is and be enjoyed.

Well I hust reread all posts in this thread...and perhaps headers and a base nitrous system. Again...thanks all.

The header debate is really a moot question as there too many folks including myself that have spent lots of $'s for headers many times over.
If they did not work we would not continue to spend the $'s.

On a normally aspirated motor, headers offer a good bang for the buck.
agreed........:D

Oh Boy here we go....:D

Chase....headers work....on a vette....or a chevelle or a 'stang....they will also work on your truck they will get you 15 rwhp for close to $2000.00....so the question is...is $2k worth 15rwhp...

As far as something working and people still buying it....I refer you to CAIs....everyone buys them....everyone knows they don't make power...but they look good ...sound good....kinda like headers....:D

Nowwhat,
Thanks for the comparison. Makes good sense as I bought the Volant CAI when I first got the truck...going to take it off and go back to the stock airbox this weekend. I think I will get get my stock headers coated by JMB for looks. I love how you have the fastest truck on the forum and you still have questions and arent afraid to ask them (ie. the stereo bezel removal). Thanks.

OK Mr Nowwhat, king of the racers, enjoy being the quickest and fastest truck on the Forum while you can...;)

You are the best right now and I bow down to your track and truck prowess.

I might just have to put a hitch on my red truck so I can tow my race truck to Bakersfield and beat you with both of them..............:D

Don't know ? ? ? ? ? ?

I don't want to rush into anything too fast.............;) .....;) .....;)

I will just keep beating on it at the pace it takes to do it right.....

Nowwhat...where did you get your wheels powdercoated and how much for all 4?

Big power means big bucks........ Ask Mike Brady (Nowwhat) what he has into his truck.... Hell, I'll bet he could (at least) buy another truck with what he spent just to reach high 10's........

Um, yeah. Me too. I'm almost to the point I could have bought 2 of 'em used.

Jesus, save me now. Oh, and if it's not too much to ask, please don't let my wife find out.

Two things that havent been mentioned................upgrading your clutch... you gotta get that power to the wheels and some folks have changed out the 4.56 gears to 4.88's. I went from 4.10 to 4.88's and it was a huge improvement in the fun factor.

Hey Patrick,

I was told by an almost unimpeachable source that a 4:88 rear end means you must grab 5th before you hit 1/4 mile.......

Any comment....?

Havent run it yet. But I heard fourth makes it (I forget his name but the guy whom owns a carwash ran his)...........but if it doesnt so what. Doesnt really matter to me. I am not a quarter mile junkie.........for everyday driving its awesome.

What about Mas, doesnt he have 4.88's? Does he run stock tires?
