I had actually never thougth of that. Other than 456 or 488 gears, the next question is, whom on Maui can actually do the job?
So Marc, you had put in 456 then swapped to 488's. Hummm.....I really have no highways here to drive on. I have only put it into 6th a few time just to see what it was like. There is literally only one road to where you might use it...speed limit is 55 mph there. So highway driving is not an issue. I spend 95% of my time below 60 mph. So if I am going to the track without any intentions of SC, turbo or spray in the future will I still be able to cross the finish line in 4th gear?

If you have no further mod plans, then I think you could get away with 4.88's, based on your mph in your sig. BUT, if you have any plans for a Flash or header and/or mid pipes(or whatever), you may want to go with 4.56's, IMO.
When I mentioned 110mph with the 4.88's, that's at the 6,000 REDline!118mph with the 4.56's will give you a little bit of room to play, without overrevving the engine through the traps.
ALSO, this is ALL based on keeping the STOCK tire size and height!
Now that would be freakin' sweet!! As long as you had a place to store the stock diff. Or sell it.Rice Eater said:i read somewhere that someone found new 05 rear ends avail for sale from an over production that were less money that buing gears and swapping them.
So after its all said and done we are looking at about 700 bucks installed?
mauiSRT/10 said:Ok Mike, I do plan on loosing the cats for Boomers mids. Maybe a flash not sure yet. If those mods put me into the redline in fourth gear with the 4:88's then thats not good. Maybe the 4:56's would better suit my needs.
This is all good info, thank you sir!!![]()

Hamrhead said:Yeah - my guess would be at least 2 mph more from each of those mods, so with 4.88's you'd be cutting it real close to redline.
