I just finished with a lil intake port work and decided to paint and airbrush this ugly MOFO intake that Chrysler shoulda powdercoated. Enjoy and I'll have more pix after install as well as custom painted valve covers.

killer man! hey flip it over so's we can see the port work!

Nothing special but it's on it's way back on the truck. I do it to any intake I have off that's mine but usually go farther. Basically I use the exhaust gas pattern left on the intake and head and match them. Usually the gasket has more surface area than the heads or intake, and opening those holes to the gasket size only makes sense to flow more. I use a Dremel with a pencil tip or that's what I call it. It's the extension you can use and it's like holding a pen or pencil. I start out with abrasive rock bit, and gradually smooth out with a paper wheel (sandpaper wheel), then I use aluminum polish and the little buffing pad to polish a lil. May gain 1-2 HP but it's the piece of mind it gives me that counts. A larger cam profile would benefit more from this wasted time.:D

Thanks for the compliments guys. I look to getting the valve covers done in the next couple days and post pics. Either gonna do the "VIPER" letters in airbrushed chrome, or red and can't make up my mind. I have polished the fuel rail as well to rid of all water spots and defects and it's gonna pop between the intake and valve covers.:D

Looks bad!! Will the paint handle the heat from engine?

Yep, it's good ole basecoat/clearcoat like on your car. I've never had a customer complain. I just rarely get to do my own stuff. Kinda like the plumber having leaks in his own house, the badass mechanic whose personal cars need attention, the roofer whose own home is missing shingles, ahh.............you get the point.;)

The black looks sweet... I could do without the Viper, but that's just me. Lookin forward to the install pics:rock:

Prof, I have about 8 hours in just the painting of the intake. From initial cleaning and degreasing, to etch primer, primer surfacer, sanding the primer, base, then clear. The casting in the intake was hell getting out and I only concentrated on the tops and sides of the plenums. I feel the valve covers will go much more easily due to them being powdercoated or painted already.

nice !!!
