In 2001 the National Debt was $4 Trillion and congress was talking about the best ways to use our excess tax revenue to start paying down that debt.

Now, today, at this moment our National Debt is over $9 Trillion. Our current leaders, without regard to party, have more than doubled our national debt. If these leaders were the leaders of a company they would be sent packing in shame, or possibly sent to jail.

Every man woman and child in this country owes nearly $30,000.

Our grandchildren will be asking why no one was screaming in protest.

This is not a political thread. It is a scream of terror, for the welfare of our children.

Fiscal responsibility is our responsibility. Man up brothers.

I own my own business and believe me when I say I'm doing my fair share of paying that loan. Not willingly but by force. If you had a child that spent as frivolously as our Government and they kept coming back for more money, there would come a time that you would just tell them NO! "You need to be smarter on how you spend the money you have". That is what needs to be said to our Government.

You also know what it takes to make payroll every two weeks, while paying for benefits, raw product, overhead, liability, workers comp, etc.

I fear those who keep spending our national resources have never faced that payroll issue...have never lost sleep over how to kite funds so that vendors and employees can be paid...have lost sleep over those accounts receivable that were promised tomorrow...so that the accounts payable would not shut down the flow of materials that are due for our "just in time inventory."

I too am self employed and agree wholeheartedly. We need to do away with all the "Special Programs".

I'm getting screwed buy the federal government, and my state government. our bitch governor thinks we are cash cows, and she has raised every tax, and every fee in this state.

Bill.

Don't worry Hillary will fix it.

While your post smacks with mockery...I agree on some levels:

1. She will have the position to set the sails in the correct direction.

2. She will try to address some of the problems

3. She may not be able to get anything meaningful done due to politics

4. Anything will be better than what we have now

So I appreciate your comment...while not helpful or very insightful, it does re-state the problem very clearly. Lots are willing to spend, lots are willing to bitch, but few are inclined to do anything because it only hurts their children and their children's children.

I am self employed also:D I would like to know why my company has to match 8% of payroll just because I own my own business:mad:

That one sentence says plenty and you know it.

I had to change number 3. for you. Must have been a typo:
3. She may not be able to get anything meaningful done due to her politics

Four (4.) I agree with too. We need to fix the mess from the Clinton and Carter eras....created a long term crisis by their unchecked spending and wasteful social programs. Where did the Social Security funds go? Money spent that wasn't theirs to spend.

Prof, I have been doing my part for my children and country for awhile now. I don't appreciate that comment.

Hey, if you can't handle a Hillary jab, then you are going to have a long next 4 years since she will probably win. Then the focus and blame, some underserving will turn to her.

How far back do you want to go Bone? I stated that this was not an issue of party but you seem to have a fixation on that issue (Clinton and Carter comment) or did you read my first post?

It is us that are responsible, we the people, yup you and me. How many of us have complained about defecit spending to our elected representatives...I have more than a dozen times. The comments were and are not directed at you...but if you have guilt complexes about the issue that is your issue, get it in gear and do something about it that is my entire point.

I also did my part in contributing...and lost my children in the process to that Jody that never heard a shot fired in anger (much like our current administration leaders). And I thank you for your contributions to our current efforts, but I think my 42 months under hostile fire, living with jungle rot counts too.

Prof, I've never once took a shot at you and I think you are a great man. However, I do see "your" in the paragraph. So you directly insinuated me in the next sentence.

I respect teachers and I feel they should be paid on the level of engineers/accountents/lawyers. Our children are our future and our investments should be in them (with a few mods to our trucks).

Were Clinton and Carter in the same party? Wow, what a coincidence! LOL

but if you have guilt complexes about the issue that is your issue, get it in gear and do something about it that is my entire point.

No guilt, but I don't roll-over either. :reddy:

Let me present you a fine Laurel and Hardy handshake. :five:

I do love you man!

Ain't it great that we can be different but in love?!

Is it Clinton's and Carter's fault that the dollar has lost so much of it's value? Or that China holds the mortgages to our houses? Our kids and grand kids ARE in trouble! What a shame.

Lots of blame to go around.

But the solution is us...if we delegate, or abdicate the outcome is our legacy.

Why look for someone to blame? We need to focus on what to do now...get involved.

I couldn't agree more!

Its easy to spend other people's money which is what the gov does.
Not many people give a crap to ouster their underperforming elected officials. Maybe if this was easier to do more politicians would do more for their people than their reputation.
9 trillion thats disgusting and both parties are to blame.

Yup, yup, yup and yup...

Sure glad that tee shirt is at the bottom of your post...I may not have been able to concentrate on your comments.

Thats Why I work by my self and Have Only one payroll to pay. I used to pay it on 2 people and man it was hard. Prof does have a Point. I think the middle Class people will be hit the Hardest:dontknow:

Hillary will fix it --by selling Bills cigars on EBAY

1. We should have never come off the Gold Standard or have some ratio. Gov't is allowed to print money.
2. I don't think it matters who the President is so to speak, our Govt will do what they want.
3. Our trade embargos are not fair to us, we should levy taxes on imports to this country(trade embalance)
4. Because of our rampant inflation, our dollar has deflated. That is why oil is increasing in price OPEC wants more money from us because our "currency" is worth less everyday.
5. should of bought Gold 4-5 years ago.
6. We need a very serious recession or depression to continue economic growth. It is part of the growing pain a the Fed keeps trying to put it off. A depression would allow us to take a step back analize what is serious and the put answers in place.

Accountability is what is needed, we could afford more if we were not financing every freaking country out there. Now china and Japan hold alot of our debt, if we default we will be hurting, eventually it will be all Euro's (50 yrs from now).

Every major American company has massive amounts of debt...there is no such thing as "good" debt. Your mortgage, student loans, business loans...debt is debt is debt.
