I finally found enough change in the cushions of the couch to replace the POS stock stereo!! This one has iPod controls built in! It's HD ready, and Sat ready too.

And.. since I had it laying around (literally) I had my old AMP and JL Audio 12" sub installed too! The guy did a nice job with the Sub, and I was able to keep the space under the passenger side seat!

The amp (Pioneer 700 watt) fits nicely under the front seat. And velcro was used to keep it in place instead of drilling through the body.

The sound is MUCH improved over stock, but I can tell that I will be replacing some of the stock speakers very soon!

Scott: Could you please pm the specifics to me...I know nothing about stereo except that the sound system that comes with these trucks sucks. I will just copy you if that is OK.

Nice mods ! ;)

The stock stereo system is good for two things......... Filling the hole in the dash and a door stop.

I recently got the interface to attach my 30 Gig iPod Video to my ///ALPINE head unit.

But what I wanna know is where you got the bracket to hold the iPod in the AC vent?:dontknow: I would rather do that than have the iPod hidden somewhere.

That little bracket I picked up at Target (I think) it is one of those "Universal" type brackets. It adjusts sizes to hold Cell phones, iPods, and the like. That is without a doubt the cheapest part of the stereo!:D I think it was like $8.

Nice Alpine you got there too!!!

Oh and that ///ALPINE head unit looks too sweet.

I got this one over the Pioneer I was looking at because I can change the illumination from Blue to RED!!:rock:

Looks good! I thought the stock stuff sounded good, for factory equipment. (I used to be a huge audiophile back in my teens.) You can never go wrong with Alpine. They're stuff is top notch.

Great job!

That is the dumbest reason why you
should choose a head unit.. LOL But it remindes me of myself
because I use silly reasons to choose head units too...LMAO
I chose mine because of the blue color is illuminates so I could
keep the blue theme working between my...

Oh and for the blue LEDs in the dash and blue alarm scanner. Besides, I just LOVE ///ALPINE.. Always have.

Hahahha!!!! Well, if that was the only reason, that I chose it, I would have to agree that was a bad reason!

Actually, I have always thought that Pioneer and Alpine are close in quality and usually, Pioneer is a little less expensive. The Pioneer and the Alpine both had the features I was looking for and very similar specs. They were the same price, so... for the red illumination (I am also trying to maintain a color theme) I chose the Alpine. Of course, the Alpine does some things that Pioneer doesn't, such as separating the power and speaker feed lines, thereby reducing noise in the speakers. But Pioneer Supertuners are hard to beat for the price too!

I am very happy with my decision! And at night, the Red looks real good!!

Like what you did with your stereo system look so clean.

What is meant by HD ready ? Will it work with the stock speakers ? Just plug and play ?:dontknow:  :dontknow:

HD = High Definition Radio ready.

I am using the stock speakers, except for the 12" sub.

Not plug and play. The installer had to find a way around the stock amp.
