It's no 10 but it will be a fun project. This is the only vehicle I own that I know is not going anywhere LOL! So I figured I'd get started on it. I've always been a die hard GM fan other that the srt-10's anyways.

I've been wanting to do this for some time now. I ran across a good deal on a lower mileage LQ9 a few weeks ago so I picked it up.

I have big plans for this build and hope to have it all done (besides paint) by this coming spring. My grandfather give me this truck for 2 dollors (yep $2 bucks LOL!) about 6 years ago with 156k miles on the clock. It's been my daily driver pretty much since then and now has 237k on the clock. It's still all origional and everything works perfectly.

Since I was 16 years old all I have ever drove is this bodystyle RC. I had a 95,96,and 98 all were 2wd besides this 95'. So I'm kinda partial to these 95-98 trucks. I don't plan to ever sell this truck so I'd like to fix it up a bit.

I don't want to make a long post on what I plan to do so I'll just put up what I've done so far and purchased as of now.

05' LQ9 70K miles
17'' wheels tires
00' Escalade gauges
99' tahoe ash trey
Drop keys
Comp/temp rear view mirror
Shackle hanger kit for the rear
Complete LED's for the interior

Here's a few pictures of the truck before/after the wheels swap. I plan to get some 265/65/17's to run until I buy some 20's. The tires on the 17's are 265/75/17's there a little to tall IMHO.

You're going to drop it? I also like the older style trucks, but im a Ford fan. Should run a lot better with the newer engine, but the old throttle body 350's sure did have a ton of low end torque.

Different wheels and tires, and one of the neighbors came home.

Yes, I know dropping a 4wd is stupid to some but I've never been a fan of lifted trucks:D Not to mention jacking a truck up with big wheels/tires really affects the performance/handling and I don't like that.:(

These old 350 TBI trucks are gutless. I think they were rated at 220hp and mine has 240k miles so it's much weaker than that I'm sure:) I'm shooting for 400-430hp NA which shouldn't be hard with this 6.0:rock: I'll have to baby it for awhile cause I don't think the transmission will last long with an extra 200hp:D

Good Luck!

Update:

This is how the truck looks now. I've had it with a guy in dallas for a few weeks. He's building my engine and doing the swap since I don't have a shop right now to do it in. Here's a short list of some of the goodies in the 6L.
Had to end up giving the LQ9 a refresh since it had water in the cylinders. I believe it's going to put out some good power. Here's a list of some of the goodies.

05' LQ9
ARP rod,cam and head bolts
Clevite main bearings
Comp cam (not giving specs just yet but it's pretty big)
Hardned push rods
LS7 lifters
Ported/Polished,milled 317's
Dual valve springs with titanium retainers
LS2 timing chain
High volume oil pump
TBSS intake
8.1 marine injectors

I'm sure I've missed lots of stuff but this is what I could think of right now. It's no 10 but I'm sure it would give ANY bolt on NA 10 a good run! I'm hoping for 400-450rwhp

Spend a whole weekend putting sound deading in the whole cab.

Back from the dead thread!:D

Got rear ended by a crack head about 2 months ago in my LS swapped 95' Don't think I'm gonna spend anymore on it right now so I started stripping it down a few days ago.

Here's a few pics of the damage and one of its final resting place:(

Here's one of the new DD. I've thought about swapping my 6L out and running a turbo:dontknow:

Hey Kyle do you have a thread going about the green truck? Id like to know more about it.

i liked that you had leather seats in it, looked real good, that sucks about getting hit

That's my friend Kyle's truck LOL!! I got that truck when I was 16 and sold it to him when I graduated high school. It's also a 95. I fabbed all the stuff for the air ride back in the day. It's been torn down for probably 8 years now don't know if he'll ever finish it. Since we have this small space to work now I hope to get him to finish it up with my help.

Bad ass looking truck! Hope he finishes it. Also, I hope you got out and beat that crack heads ass.
