On Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, a 80's model Chevy truck collided with a Ford F550 on Hwy 2 just west of Hwy 79 near Esto. Bonifay Fire Rescue was dispatched for entrapment. Upon Bonifay Fire Rescue arrival, Esto Fire Dept. had began the extrication process of the Chevy truck's driver. BFD assisted in extricating the driver out of the badly deformed truck and onto a spine board. Fire Rescue attention then turned to extricating 4 horses out of the overturned horse trailer being pulled by the Ford F550. Fire 102 took command on the extrication process of the injured horses. All horses were led to safety after Bonifay Fire Rescue and Esto Fire made enough room at the rear exit of the trailer. Both occupants of the Chevy truck were air lifted to area hospitals with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford F550 was not injured. www.bonifayfire.com
