Need advice on Selling on EBAY!!!

Alright after buying countless items on ebay i've decided to start trying to sell a bunch of stuff that might be of use to someone outthere. Well everything seems pretty straight forward but there is a few things that i'm not sure on how to do. i've kind a did a practice session on getting an item on there but i backed out at the end because i didnt know what to write for shipping. HOw do you guys determine what to charge for shipping? I know some people overcharge on shipping and make a profit out of it, but i want to be legit and just charge a upfront price. This is what i dont know how to do...Anyhow I would appreciate any advice i can get from all you guys on conducting ebay bussinax..

When you are a buyer there is some calculator button thingy.. Maybe the sellers have it too? :dontknow:

You can set up an account with UPS or whichever service you like. It includes shipping software, label printing, etc. ..........

Or you need the length, height width and weight along with the (from and to) zip codes and you can go online and look the rates up

You can go to ups.com or fedex.com and get a calculated amount of what it cost to ship somewhere usually ground will be around the same from coast to coast. I would suggest packing the shipping cost to cover yourself.

One thing to remember. Except in the case of automobile sales, you pay a commission to ebay based on the sale price of your item. If you charge more for shipping, your final bid will usually be less (people aren't as stupid as you might think), but your cost for selling the item will also be less. This is especially true for smaller items of high value. I used to sell bullion (gold,silver, platinum) as a side business on ebay. I found that if I charged $20 for shipping a coin, fully insured, then the final cost would be a few dollars below what the coin was worth, but the shipping increase made up for it. And my comission to ebay was less, thus costing me less out of my profit. This is a totally honest way to conduct business on ebay and is quite frequent with those that are savvy about ebay. All you need to remember is to make it very, very clear in the description of your item that you are charging a flat rate for shipping, so a potential buyer does not have any reason to be upset with you down the road.

USPS has a shipping calc. You just tell the weight and it will calculate for the zip.

You also can check and see what others are selling your item for or something like it and charge the same shipping amount..
