Coat hanger to reach between lift gate and bed cover and release bed cover. Remove screws from inside of lift gate and release lift gate. Sounds easy but will probably result in hours of cussing and a torn bed cover gasket. Good luck.

Push at top of tailgate while pulling latch. Repeat till open. pull more on left side of handle as right isnt attached as much. The rods are simply held in by plastic clips and a threaded rod. Once you get it open remove panel like above
Mentioned. Undo clip, remove rod, reinstall a few threads deeper. Lube latches as well.

I would suggest getting an after market latch with a key like I have. Built much better than OEM. Basic black but can be painted.

With the factory cover you have to open the tailgate to get to the cover latch.
