i had another thread going on my quarter mile time and how slow i was. what some members had said is that could have been my shifting witch led me to look at my transmission fluid level. once i determined that was at the proper level. i started looking through my service record and i see that valvoline had put valvoline synpower 75w90 GEAR oil. from what i had read on here is that gear oil is not good for our transmission. i need help on what to do. please any advice is helpfull.

Drain that sludge out and put some Syn. ATF Some members use Mobil 1 ATF,I use this.

It would be a little costly...but I would drain ,fill with ATF put some miles on it and repeat to get all that heavy stuff out of there. (Mobil 1 ATF here)

Luckily my brother works at Valvoline and i was able to take my truck up there and they determined that they had made a mistake and put the wrong stuff in there. So what they said they would do for me is put the correct fluid in there and let me drive it for a little bit. And if that doesnt fix it they said they would take care of me. And im assuming they mean there gonna buy me a new transmission. But from what i understand once a syncronizer is bad there no fixing it. Is this correct?

Is the transmission grinding when you shift now? If it's not, I would think it will be ok, once you change the fuild (a couple of times) to get the gunk out of there.

Yup, change it,drive a few hundred miles, drain and fill again with ATF.
I know you said you "changed" clutch brake fluid, but is it bled? It has to be purged of old fluid and air!! Not just changed in the reservoir!!!:D

Yes it was bleed out completely and now i can feel the clutch earlier. And no its not grinding but it strughles going into gear and gets hung up when shifting.

technically... you can change one synchro, but it's stupid... you have to disassemble the whole trans anyways...

i'm surprised they fessed up to that to be honest...

i used mobil1 in the oem trans for 100k miles... then went to redline in the built trans...

Have you loosened the bolts on your B&M and made sure the ball is centered? Give it a try, it might help.:)

I have a similar issue with my trans, the gears hang up a bit too and when I first start up my truck the shifter feels a little stiff to move around but after a minute it feels beter. I have the original gear oil in my trans and OEM shifter. I will do a oil change and put some ATF and see what happens.

Im taking a look at my b&m shifter now but how can you tell if its centered? Just by looking?

It's more of a feel thing. Guys do you remember the instructions on this? In neutral to tighten the bolts? (it's been a while!).
