I know we have a few people in the transportation business on here so I thought I would give "family" the first shot at this.

I am in the process of buying a Chaparral 276 SSI (29ft long; 9ft beam) with a trailer. The boat and trailer are in Destin FL and I need it shipped to Annapolis MD (1,000miles)

If you can help me out, shoot me a PM.

I thought about that, but by the time I get done paying for gas, places to sleep, and time off work, it is just cheaper and easier to ship it.

you could hire a delivery captain...but you would still have to deal with the trailer. shoot, i could do this on my time off.

Having moved a boat from Destin to SC by water, that is a VERY expensive way to go. Not to mention it would take him prob two weeks to move that boat to MD by water if only wanted to run ~100 miles a day and if he had to stay in the intracoastal due to weather/seas 100 miles a day is almost max. Figure $70 per night at a marina, plus fuel. 9 days would be about as fast as possible figuring 3 short days for weather (Atlantic is rough this time of year). I'd bet he'd burn at least 1000 gal of gas. Don't get me wrong moving a boat by water is a lot of fun and is a great vacation if you have a couple of people who are willing to go.

Muscletruck, best chance would prob be a "hot shot." Basically they use 1 ton pickups and move things like boats and cars from auctions. With the slowdown in the auto industry you shouldn't have too much trouble finding someone willing to do this.
