I'm just in the middle of purchasing my 06 Night Runner RC. As the truck will be converted to RHD in New Zealand prior to me driving it, I would like to make the upgrades that many speak of while this is happening (several birds with one stone). It takes 5 weeks to convert the car from LHD - RHD.

All I am wanting is a nice driving performing (not radical) clutch assembly. I know that replacing the master/slave cylinder is recommended and that I should also look at a clutch upgrade while I do this too. What do you think of this kit below? What is everyone using? Do I need the $470 extra Fidanza aluminum flywheel? http://jmbperformance.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=66_106&products_id=257

Also, I have heard so much about "Boomers"? shifters. What is the best and most up to date combo? The GenX (10) kit?. What do I get for for $399, a shorter more precise throw? I just like the Hurst logo and factory look but.... Is that all the Boomer can offer? Any other clutch and shifter bits you guys can recommend please let me hear them. I will do the exhaust and stuff later.

I would really like to get this stuff shipped over with the truck to save money, hassle and also as it goes straight to the conversion shop when it lands in NZ. Thanks and sorry about all the questions from me lately. I'm fussy and have OCD lol. Better to ask now than receive the incorrect or junk parts later.

Cheers,
Carl

Go ahead and get the parts for the eventual clutch change but run the sock clutch until you need to change it. I've got 18K on mine without a problem. Some like the Findenza and some are switching back to stock. They are saying it's too light. I will stay with the stock flywheel but will upgrade the clutch and pressure plate. I will probably go with the ACT clutch. I've read that the Centerforce can be noisy.

Now Boomers GenX shifter is a must have. Truck shifts much more smoothly and precise. You will get the base and two piece Jedi shifter handle. The stock shifter ball will screw right on. Hope this helps some.

Thanks mate, I will get the kit and I'll skip the Findenza flywheel and keep the stock wheel. How hard is it to change the clutch set up? Reason I ask if it's a pain to do or a frisky little job I'd prefer to have it done while the conversion is happening. Though, I only have 5,900miles so may leave it as is for now, but, there is no harm changing early either, correct? :dontknow:

Sounds good, smoother & precise but is the actual throw shorter? Do you know how long it takes to install? Last but not least, see in the photo below of one of Boomers shifters how you can see the handle's "insides" is that the way all Boomers handles look or is that just a personal preference. The long stick height doesn't bother me, I quite like the "rat rod" look, gives it a truck feel too.

Cheers,
Carl

You can change out the clutch anytime. Won't hurt a thing. I've not actually done the change yet but should be able to do it when it needs it. The Findenza is a personal choice. Some run it because the engine revs faster but day to day drivability may suffer some. Other will chime in. I'm sure other who have actually changed their clutch will inform you on how difficult it is. Shouldn't be too bad.

Yeah, the picture looks like Boomers GenX. The middle section of the handle is just a little too tall for the leather boot to cover. Mine looks the same. The handle is adjustable so you might like it in a shorter position where the boot will cover the center section. It is a short throw shifter. It's been awhile since I've had the stocker so it's difficult for me to compare. It's probably close to the B&M but the B&M is nowhere near as smooth as the GenX. It only takes about a half hour to change out the shifters maybe a little longer on an '06 due to the center console.
