well,i let my son drive my truck in the yard the other day and he STUPIDLY:mad:   ran over a big f-in stump that we were burning the night of the gtg here in april...if anyone remembers the size of this thing?its about 20" dia,20" tall.he ran slap over that bitch.i seen the truck lift off the ground three times as it rolled under my truck. he had to get a floor jack out an lift the truck to get it unwedged from the rear axel.it f-ed up the front bumper cover, flatened the tranny pan to the valve body and, crushed my new jmb catless mid pipes fat as hell against the tranny.this happened monday evening right at dark.i have not even looked under it in the daylight yet(in fear of killing my child) to see what else it screwed up.well i called dodge...they have a pan at orlando dodge that i will get tomorrow.short story long, how many qts or fluid does it take to do a filter change?should i drain it completely?if so ,how do ya drain all the fluid?i read the service manual but it does not tell ya that kind of stuff.

well thanks for any input,i`m going to slap the shit out of my boy for a little bit(better to let it out slowly than to beat the shit out of him...right?:dontknow: :D )

I think six or seven quarts was what it took the last time I changed the trans fluid. I used Mobil One ATF...the dealer won't do that, but Tremec recommends it.

DAMN! You have a son? :dontknow:  :D

Mag-Hytec or PML makes aftermarket larger better pans.

Why didn't you say so Dennis,I've got a stock pan sitting on my shelves !!! I put the Mag Hi Tech on mine,so I won't be needing the original one !!Let me know if you need it !!!:dontknow:

chrysler does not want mixing of the atf4. you should only need about 4.5 qts when taking the pan off. the only way to really drain all the fluid out is to flush it. I would recommend putting atf+4 back in it. the trans pan gasket is re-usable, so no need to buy a new one.

My experience:
5.5 quarts just taking the pan off
12 quarts with a complete flush
17 quarts with a complete flush and deep Mag-Hytec pan.

Wow!! How old is your son?? And you let him drive your truck through the back yard??

Well, some lessons are best learned the hard way! Betcha won't do that again!!

Sorry to hear about your truck! Let me know how the band tightening goes though, I been considering doing it myself!

:D
