My mother was a young Mother fearing the "rumors" of Japanese paratroopers landing on the beaches of Waikiki.
My father was in the South Pacific, Mother hid in the garage, until our neighbors came to find her after the attack. She still recalls the terror and disbelief that the peace loving people of Hawaii had been subjected to a sneak attack. My grandparents were on Maui on a plantation and did not know of the attack until the next day.
If you have never visited the "Arizona" memorial...do so some day.
