My mother was a young Mother fearing the "rumors" of Japanese paratroopers landing on the beaches of Waikiki.

My father was in the South Pacific, Mother hid in the garage, until our neighbors came to find her after the attack. She still recalls the terror and disbelief that the peace loving people of Hawaii had been subjected to a sneak attack. My grandparents were on Maui on a plantation and did not know of the attack until the next day.

If you have never visited the "Arizona" memorial...do so some day.

Never can forget Walt, it's on my birthday. :(

The Arizona site is a special place. There are only a few other places where I have felt the same kind of reverence. Arlington, Andersonville and the Vietnam Wall are three good examples. I'm sure Gettysburg must feel the same but I've yet to go there.

I interviewed a man who was a Japanese Officer during WWII for a documentary I was working on. He explained that they were told at the time that the attack was retaliation. Only after the war did they learn the truth.

May we never forget.

Within the next few years the last survivors of Pearl Harbor will have passed on. It will become the duty of our generation to remember this time, and make sure that the next generation does not let people forget, or twist the truth.

I salute you Walt for keeping the truth alive.

It's also my Parent's anniversary.... My Grandfather was there. He was a Submarine Officer. I still have his Dolphins. :)

Lots of sacrifices made on that fateful day.... And what a glaring tactical mistake by the Japanese....

God bless all of our brave soldiers, past and present.

Tomorrow they are finally putting up a memorial for the USS OkLAHOMA at Pearl Harbor.

The state and veterans group have been gathering up money for awhile. Something that has I guess got overlooked, and till someone realized that all the WW2 vet were passing on.

Vimy Ridge in France is a place that did it for me. To see how close the front lines were to each other, the conditions that those guys fought in, rows and rows of graves with an average age of about 19yrs old. If you guys ever get a chance to go there it is worth the trip. Go to the memorial as well, it will be something that stays with you forever.

I will never forget,my grandfather was killed on june 21 1944 durning the break out from normandy.

i got to see the ceremony on tv ONCE, i cant ever find it again...it was very moving, even on tv...

Semper Fi to all my Marine and Sailor Brothers that were lost that day. You did not die in vain, you helped to bring a country together and to give our country the resolve to win the war. May each and every one of you Rest In Eternal Peace.
