I was just doing a quick check on some other stuff and noticed that my new bumper isn't....well...new.

The fascia is fine (slight orange peel action that I will ask about), but the bumper has scratches all over the front of it. They travel the entire length of the bumper, L-R. Yes- they are visible behind the facia grilles in normal lighting.

Anyone else have scratches like this on their bumper/"impact bar"?

wow bro, did you buy the truck new??? Maybe its just a factory thing, where they messed it up during assembly. Id take it to the dealer....

I would check your repair invoice. Here in Manitoba, they are authorized to use recycled parts as long as they are in new condition.

If your invoice states new parts I would definately go back there and have a little visit.

lol...oh ok...that can explain it. Your shop didnt do a great job huh. Thats insurance for you. Doing all the right things with used parts!

I agree with Manic. And even if it is a recycled part, it should be painted, and not scratched. Last time I checked, "like new" was sans scratches!

Yeah. They explained to me during the original estimate that the parts would all be new.

On my estimates and full invoices, no parts are marked, "OEM-OPT" or "ALT-OEM", which means the parts should all be new.

Truck goes back to the dealer on Thurs. Bumper/"impact bar" will be painted.

Apparently, they ship bumpers bare, without any packing at all. So, what ever scrapes/bumps/bruises happen in shipping are usually left alone (does this sound odd to anyone else?)
Unfortunately, our bumpers are visible through the vents in the fascia.

I'm gonna ask if they'll do it PX8 to match the rest of the truck. :)

ya, they do ship them bare. I bought one when I converted my SLT ram to a sport, and the impact bad came by itself. It just had plastic wrap on it. So I think your in the clear bro!
