Well after reading the forums for the past few weeks I have decided to write my first post. I hate to start my first post with a question but her we go.

After not having much luck finding the truck I want up here in Alberta I have gone to ebay to track one down. I am just a little leary about buying a truck out of the states cause I am not sure what to expect at the border and the paper work that i have to get done. I have read the government websites on what needs to be done I just want to be extra cautious cause if I make a bad deal or jack something up and I cant get the truck across, my wife will kill me.

So to get to it, I am wondering if anyone on here would share what they know about importing a vehicle from the states. Oh and it is a private seller and I want to get it shipped up here via semi.

Thanks in advance
Todd.

If it has warranty it will be void once registered in Canada. You will have to pay GST on the amount of course. Will the semi company do the brokerage and handle the notification at the border crossing?.
If not you will have to notify the border 3 days before the truck is to cross, and have a brokerage do their thing you will then have to get it checked at Canadian Tire for the certification.
What are you looking for one might be for sale on here? or one here will know were to find it.
Mine came from Ontario they have similar prices to the US without the hassle and last but not least

Oops I meant to put down what I was looking for.

A Red QC (black is ok as well), with sunroof and the factory tonneau cover. I am looking for Low Km which is probably the biggest catch for me. Mint exterior is also a must.

you may want to check out autotrader for ontario.

this week (3) the best one is

canadian truck/dodge dealer/wellingtonmotors.com
red rc
9K KM
asking 32K Canadian

call tfx in toronto to ship it to you in a enclosed trailer

no problem to buy in US but I would be nervous buying one of these trucks with higher mileage (over 10K) and or any mods. They are built to be driven.

no problem with us purchase-gotta work on payment-customs no problem-no warranty and day time lights-200.00 at canadian tire.

i bought mine 2005 with 2k 3 years ago. now 36K miles and not one problem.

The funny thing is I think being from Alberta that it is cheaper to buy a vehicle from the states because of PST.

You will not pay Ontario sales tax on transaction.

See if the truck already has the day time running lights turned on ---if not I believe a US dealer will only charge about $45.00 to flick the switch...

Welcome to the mad house, hope you get the info needed:dontknow: , but enjoy the ride and company:burnout:
