I'd honestly go to a V10 Magnum site and see what knowledge you can muster there. I know IRONHEAD had both an 8.0 and a Viper 8.3 but dunno how much he knows about the block differences between it and the old 8.0 Viper engine?
I have had three of the Iron blocks in different trucks ,they are as different as night and day bubba ,for one the compression ratio is something around 8.5 to one ,,,maybe a tad higher than that but not much ,they had to be seriously detuned because they ate auto transmissions for lunch ,,the blocks and motors were totally forged ,so if you put the time in it you could make them hump ,,for one you had to up compression which made huge gains ,,when they came out though no one had a programmer to do changes when they up HP ,,the heads were so restrictive that it was a chore to port them ,,,most peeps just slapped a super charger on them and called it a day .
I will say this i have seen them out last a Cummings diesel motor many times ,,when they say they were bullet proof they were not talking crap ,,,They also get awful gas mileage even with no cats and headers and a drop in K/N it will only get about 11 to 12 in town driving ,,but they can pull a house down the street if you need it to.
There is really no forums for these motors ,,
Now i have to disappear again ADIOS MUCHACHOS
