Hey guys, just picked up a 05 red qc.

Mod plans are as follows:

Borla Exhaust (do they make it and does anyone have any soundclips?)
Delete all the cats
JMB CAI
170 Thermostat
100-150 wet shot (how safe is it? I know #3 has been known to kersplode)

Do they make a torque converter for our trucks or am I stuck with just a shift kit?

Also, if I wanted to build a nitrous friendly shortblock, what kind of price range am I talking, or do I just need better pistons?

Sorry for all the questions, I know there is a search engine.

i know the internals of these motors are cream puffs and you will probably hear a lot people suggest all forged internals if you really want to start doing shots of nos otherwise you are risking it.

In lieu of a shift kit or torque converter. You might try a stage 2 PCM. It deletes the torque management built into the stock computer and makes shifts crisper. You won't want to run much (if any) advance to the timing if you going to shoot nitrous. You can get custom PCM's from the vendors here. You can have it programmed to turn the fan on sooner to go along with you cooler T-stat too.

depends on you future
Nos done right.......150 shot , get in touch with Justin at JMB he can lead you in the right direction.

flash, changes the trq limiter, fan, timing and such, but get with Justin on how much to go with the timing.

You can get a trq convertor, Joe at westminister, contact Nowwhat.

But first adjust your bands inthe tranny that should take care of most of the tranny problems.

dont waste money on just pistons, and honestly if your going to break in the bottom end , do it right, dont half ass it.

Change the pistons, go with a quality piston, weisco, JE, diamond.
change the rods, Oliver, crower, eagle.
and by dont half ass it, I mean go ahead with billet mains, so many make the mistake of not doin the mains, the stock mains in the gen III is so puny, it just doesnt take much to loose a rod or spin a bearing. so go with billet mains, its worth the extra $

Acomplete bottom end by a "REAL" viper engine builder should run you 12K or in that region.

and talk to a dozen tuners to get the right camshaft for what you plan to do, dont just go with one because it "sounds good"
